Murdaugh&#8217;s attorneys previously claimed that investigators had not properly secured the crime scene. This suggested that they only focused on Murdaugh as a suspect in the crimes and did not consider other options.<\/p>\n<p>Murdaugh was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/alex-murdaugh-found-guilty-of-killing-wife-son\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found guilty<\/a>\u00a0He was accused of killing his wife and his youngest son earlier this month in an attempt to distract attention from his financial crimes. He is still facing prosecution. After only a few hours&#8217; deliberation and a six week trial, where more than 70 witnesses testified to the case, the jury reached their decision.<\/p>\n<p>Creighton waters, lead prosecutor, told Judge Clifton Newman he had evidence to support his case during sentencing &#8220;shows [Alex] to be a cunning manipulator, a man who placed himself above all others, including his family, a man who violated the trust of so many \u2013 including his friends, his family, his partners, his profession, but most of all Maggie and Paul.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Waters demanded consecutive life sentences. Murdaugh was the family. &#8220;like everyone else, was unaware of who he really was.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Murdaugh&#8217;s lawyers declined to comment on the hearing. However, Murdaugh declared his innocence once more.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m innocent. I would never hurt my wife, Maggie, and I would never hurt my son Paul,&#8221; Murdaugh claimed, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AveryGWilks\/status\/1631667722009337858\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to<\/a>\u00a0Avery Wilks, chief investigator at the Post and Courier.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Newman excoriated Murdaugh for his repeated lies, including his insistence that he was never at the dog kennels \u2014 where Maggie and Paul were murdered \u2014 on the day of the crime. Murdaugh admitted lying to the police while he was on cell phone evidence. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/alex-murdaugh-testified-in-his-own-defense-and-immediately-admitted-to-lying\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Testifying in his own defense<\/a>\u00a0During the trial.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-33527\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Alex&#8217;s brother Randy received his sentence. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/03\/06\/us\/alex-murdaugh-brother-randy.html?partner=slack&#038;smid=sl-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Submitted<\/a> The New York Times reported that Alex&#8217;s brother, who lied to police about stealing millions from former clients, was still not certain whether he actually murdered his wife and son.<\/p>\n<p>Randy said that he believes Alex knows more than he has about their murders, despite this.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He knows more than what he&#8217;s saying,&#8221; Randy spoke to the Times. &#8220;He&#8217;s not telling the truth, in my opinion, about everything there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Randy, Alex&#8217;s partner in the family law firm, stated to the outlet that Alex couldn&#8217;t imagine pulling the trigger and committing what prosecutors described as a gruesome crime.<\/p>\n<p>Randy added: &#8220;not knowing is the worst thing there is.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alex&#8217;s trial was not attended by Randy, unlike John Marvin, Alex&#8217;s brother, and Buster, Alex&#8217;s surviving child, who both testified for Alex&#8217;s defense.
