Others pointed out that not many people are familiar with The B-52s.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We, The B-52&#8217;s, are deeply concerned about the numerous new bills that promote transphobia and discrimination against transgender individuals and drag artists, which have been introduced in the United States,&#8221; The band composed. &#8220;We strongly denounce these bills and stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is unacceptable that in the 21st century, we are witnessing such blatant attempts to undermine the rights of individuals based on their gender identity and sexual orientation,&#8221; The group continued. &#8220;These bills not only violate the fundamental human rights of the affected individuals but also perpetuate a toxic culture of hate and intolerance that has no place in our society. Join us in denouncing these bills and standing in support of our LGBTQ+ community. Together, let us work towards building a society that reflects our shared being and is truly just, inclusive, and welcoming for all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Twitter users of the left praised the band&#8217;s statement. However, for all the positive comments, there were many criticisms of the band&#8217;s misrepresentation of what the bills actually do. There were also more comments from people who didn&#8217;t know that the band existed or didn&#8217;t care.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am utterly indifferent about what this intermittently amusing band thinks about anything,&#8221; TownHall Senior Columnist <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KurtSchlichter\/status\/1633639555181187075?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kurt Schlichter<\/a> Tweeted your response.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Clever ploy to let people know that in fact your band still exists,&#8221; Grabien founder <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tomselliott\/status\/1633830562241871874?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tom Elliott<\/a> tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You should stick to identifying and imitating sea creatures,&#8221; Author and podcaster <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JimHansonDC\/status\/1633688568005636099?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim Hanson<\/a> wrote.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Can you articulate why you believe minors should be sterilized or undergo dangerous elective surgeries?&#8221; journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chadfelixg\/status\/1633823589538430976?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chad Felix Greene<\/a> responded. &#8220;Can you articulate why children and minors should be permitted into adult-only venues and\/or exposed to adult-themed sexual performances? A bill was introduced in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/arkansas-senate-bill-classifies-drag-shows-as-adult-oriented-businesses-in-effort-to-protect-children\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arkansas<\/a> Drag shows would be described as &#8220;adult-oriented businesses&#8221; It would ban minors from attending, and it would also ban drag performances at public property. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/tennessee-gov-signs-bills-protecting-children-from-sex-change-procedures-drag-shows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tennessee<\/a> Last week, Governor Bill Lee signed similar legislation. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/desantis-admin-moves-to-punish-florida-venue-that-hosted-sexually-explicit-drag-show-open-to-kids\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida<\/a>Governor Ron DeSantis&#8217;s administration removed the liquor license from a performance venue that had hosted a &#8220;sexually explicit&#8221;\u00a0Drag show open to children.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/mississippi-bans-sex-change-procedures-for-minors-matt-walsh-delivers-remarks-with-governor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mississippi<\/a> Governor Tate Reeves approved a bill last week banning sex-change for minors. Lee also signed similar legislation in Tennessee.
