Retirees over 72 years old are protected by the rule that allows participants to workplace retirement plans to delay taking their required minimum distribution payments, known as RMD. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/newsroom\/irs-reminder-to-many-retirees-last-day-to-start-taking-money-out-of-iras-and-401ks-is-april-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the IRS announced<\/a> Thursday. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/economy\/tax-season-irs-open-taxpayer-assistance-centers-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TAX SEASON 2023: IRS TO OPEN MULTIPLE TAXPAYER ASSISTANCE CENTERS ACROSS US<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>Only retirees who have received their first RMD must comply with this deadline. After that, future RMD payments must occur by December 31.
