However, they refused. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Wire<\/a> he never received the bombshell \u2013 and potentially exculpatory \u2013 footage aired Monday night by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-jan-6-video-changes-narrative-brings-knives-out-for-tucker-carlson-says-ben-shapiro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tucker Carlson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Albert Watkins, whose client\u00a0Jacob Chansley pleaded guilty to felony charges in connection with the Capitol riot and was sentenced to 41 months in prison, said Department of Justice prosecutors were legally bound to turn over the footage. Carlson&#8217;s Fox News Channel clip shows Chansley as he walks freely through the building in peace, sometimes accompanied by multiple officers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We did not receive that video footage,&#8221; Watkins stated. &#8220;We asked for it, and not just once or twice. Whether we asked for it or not is irrelevant because the government had an absolute, non-compromisible duty to disclose that video and they did not do so.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And all the while, they were actively representing to the court and the American people that Jake was a leader, leading the charge into the Capitol,&#8221; He stated. &#8220;They did not disclose that footage because it ran contrary to their rote narrative.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Watkins is an attorney who has worked for the Daily Wire almost forty years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve never seen anything so vile as what I&#8217;m seeing right now,&#8221; He stated. &#8220;It&#8217;s a departure from a pretty high standard they&#8217;ve maintained for a long time. Anyone who needs to have belief in the integrity of our justice system, whether they&#8217;re a left-wing New England academic or a raging right-winger, needs to say that this is really wrong and f\u2014ing it up for everyone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8BREAKING NEWS: A never before seen footage of Jan 6 captures Jacob Chansley (QAnon Shaman) being led through Capitol by the police throughout his time in the building. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rikoRMWezF\">pic.twitter.com\/rikoRMWezF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Greg Price (@greg_price11) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greg_price11\/status\/1632912031882805250?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 7, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Watkins stated that the anger directed now at Carlson because he located and aired the footage should be directed towards the prosecutors, who appear to have violated the rules in the historic Supreme Court case <em>U.S. v Brady<\/em>This affirmed that defense lawyers must be able to access relevant information, especially exculpatory, from prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Looking at the news, half of it is getting mad at Tucker,&#8221; Watkins stated. &#8220;What the f\u2014 does Tucker have to do with any of this? Except that he was smart enough to get it in our faces.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s appalling,&#8221; He continued. &#8220;Whether you&#8217;re right-leaning, you like Tucker Carlson, you hate Tucker Carlson, is irrelevant. This is about putting a dagger in the heart of our justice system. And the person holding the dagger and thrusting it with all its might is our Department of Justice. This required collaboration from the top of the Justice Department right down to the Assistant U.S. Attorney lying to me, a fellow officer of the court, knowing I had a duty to put my client in the best position I could based on the evidence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Chansley, September 20, 2021, pleaded guilty illegally to obstructing a formal proceeding. Watkins is no longer representing Chansley.<\/p>\n<p>Kimberly Paschall was the Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia. Watkins claimed that Paschall lied. Bill Miller (a spokesperson for Matthew Graves, U.S. AG for the District of Columbia), did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Watkins stated that Federal Judge Royce Lamberth should approve the federal prosecutors. He presided over this case.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is as egregious a violation of the trust as I have seen, with the exception of hiding DNA evidence in a murder case,&#8221; He stated.\u00a0&#8220;If I&#8217;m a federal judge and find out that indeed I was played a fool, I was duped by an assistant U.S. attorney that lied to me repeatedly while Mr. Watkins was yelling that no one was more peaceful than Jacob, and I&#8217;m making rulings based on what the government is saying, I&#8217;d be one pissed off federal judge.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Watkins stated that these issues need to be addressed in all the January 6 cases currently open. He stated that Chansley&#8217;s sentence was more than one year old and the judge has no jurisdiction in the case. This is the remedy. &#8220;special writ of habeas corpus\u2014it&#8217;s an extraordinary remedy but one that&#8217;s warranted here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cour <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/29100583\/62\/1\/united-states-v-chansley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">filings<\/a> Chansley&#8217;s case confirms Watkins claims that Chansley asked repeatedly for videos from his client.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our position is that the government must identify any evidence it believes to capture [defendant], regardless of whether it intends to rely on the same in its case in chief,&#8221; One said.<\/p>\n<p>Paschall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/29100583\/76\/united-states-v-chansley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> In the September 17th, 2021 case that the government was setting-up a &#8220;global&#8221; Video dump available for use by all defendants The event would take place on &#8220;evidence.com for voluminous digital media materials (e.g., body-worn-camera footage and U.S. Capitol Police (\u2018USCP&#8217;) surveillance footage),&#8221; She wrote. &#8220;Further, we will ensure that all Capitol Breach legal defense teams will have access to the same platforms, including technological functionality commensurate to that available to the government, for the purpose of receiving and reviewing discoverable materials.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Chansley was already guilty at that point. And even when Watkins looked at the evidence platform\u2013he has represented four January 6 defendants\u2013it did not actually allow lawyers to filter and navigate the videos using the same methods available to law enforcement, he said; it was merely a giant dump of generically presented videos.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-1394\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If I started watching that data dump two years ago I&#8217;d still be watching it,&#8221; Watkins noted that Tucker Carlson hasn&#8217;t been able, even with the help of the government system, to locate the video. He said the government&#8217;s responsibility is to provide evidence pertaining to specific defendants, not a giant dump of all Capitol videos\u2014and that they do have such technology on the government&#8217;s side.<\/p>\n<p>The government admitted using in many other cases involving January 6, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/59937716\/47\/united-states-v-moat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">facial recognition software<\/a> to determine which videos showed which people.
