However not all localities support legalization. <\/p>\n<p>This is the latest attempt to legalize marijuana <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/oklahoma-votes-down-recreational-marijuana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">failed in Oklahoma<\/a> Voters rejected a ballot initiative that would allow people over 21 to have cannabis. It was counter to the trend in other states, which shows that voter initiatives tend to be successful. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/oklahoma-votes-down-recreational-marijuana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OKLAHOMA VOTES DOWN RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>22 states, Washington D.C. and Guam are currently represented. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/best-states\/articles\/where-is-marijuana-legal-a-guide-to-marijuana-legalization\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fully legalized marijuana<\/a> For recreational or medical purposes. Only 16 states allow for medical use, while three (Idaho and Nebraska) prohibit any public use. A South Dakota constitutional amendment to legalize the drug was approved by more than 50% of South Dakota voters in 2020. The amendment was struck down by the Supreme Court of South Dakota and another similar proposal didn&#8217;t get enough support last year. <\/p>\n<p>These are the steps taken by the various states to legalize recreational marijuana over the next months. <\/p>\n<p><b>Minnesota: Legislation<\/b> <\/p>\n<p>Minnesotan voters elected sufficient Democrats to the Senate, which secured the Governor&#8217;s Office again. This allowed them to win the Trifecta. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.house.mn.gov\/sessiondaily\/Story\/17479\">first time<\/a> In 10 years. Now, with the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party in control, a bipartisan legislative push to legalize adults&#8217; use of marijuana may finally gain enough traction to become law. <\/p>\n<p>The bill to legalize marijuana has passed through several House committees and the Senate. Lawmakers hope to see a more positive response from the legislature than they did in previous years. The Minnesota House approved the bill last May. Mike DeWine (R.OH) is a partisan who has repeatedly argued against marijuana. <\/p>\n<p>DeWine stated in January 2022, that recreational marijuana is something he believes would be a good idea. &#8220;add an additional problem&#8221; Situations caused by substances other than alcohol, like driving while impaired. Cities can now mass expunge records from people charged for certain drug-related charges, such as marijuana possession of 200 grams or more.
