His ability to participate in the Miami Open (March 19 to April 2) is now in danger. DeSantis wrote to President Joe Biden on Tuesday asking for Djokovic&#8217;s permission to travel to the U.S. <\/p>\n<p>The White House confirmed Wednesday that COVID-19 rules were still in effect. Biden had until March 10, according to DeSantis, in order for him to prove that Djokovic is not allowed into the U.S. on a boat. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would refer you to the CDC, they are the ones who deal with that,&#8221; White House Press Secretary <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/karine-jean-pierre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Karine Jean-Pierre<\/a> This was Wednesday. &#8220;It&#8217;s still in place, and we expect everyone to abide by our country&#8217;s rule, whether as a participant or a spectator.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>DeSantis extolled Djokovic\u2019s talents and condemned pandemic-era mandates. His position catapulted Djokovic to superstardom in the GOP. Djokovic refused the vaccine and was subsequently barred from playing in the Australian Open.
