Early on,\u00a0Moscow&#8217;s forces managed to seize <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/International\/russia-ukraine-war-key-events-year-russia-invaded\/story?id=97255331\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">roughly a quarter of Ukraine<\/a>But the Ukrainians managed to stop their advances thanks to the United States&#8217; support. The United States has provided billions in lethal assistance and waves of sanctions for Russia, while a coalition of other countries supported the Ukrainians.<\/p>\n<p>Although there is broad bipartisan support in Ukraine, some Republicans within Congress want to decrease the aid flow. A group of House Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/republicans-introduce-bill-calling-for-halting-us-aid-to-ukraine-2023-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently introduced a non-binding resolution<\/a> Calling for an immediate cessation of U.S. Financial Support and a Peace Agreement between Warring Parties.<\/p>\n<p>Haines, along with others from the Intelligence Community, appeared before Senators on Wednesday. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/cia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CIA<\/a> William Burns, Director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/fbi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FBI<\/a> Christopher Wray Director, testifying about the new global threat assessment.<\/p>\n<p>It <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dni.gov\/files\/ODNI\/documents\/assessments\/ATA-2023-Unclassified-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">latest version of the assessment<\/a>The annual publication, titled &#8220;There is&#8230;&#8221;, is available annually. &#8220;real potential for Russia&#8217;s military failures in the war to hurt Russian President Vladimir Putin&#8217;s domestic standing and thereby trigger additional escalatory actions by Russia in an effort to win back public support.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Russian leaders are currently avoiding actions that could expand the Ukraine conflict outside Ukraine&#8217;s borders. However, &#8220;risk for escalation remains significant,&#8221; The assessment states.
