This is the same man who held <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-5-different-mask-policies-held-by-dr-fauci-in-11-months\">five different positions<\/a> on the subject of masks in less than a year. First, masks were unnecessary, then we should wear them, then they would be required after vaccinations were distributed, then the use of two masks was endorsed, and then masks were presented as necessary until COVID-19 no longer posed a threat. It seems difficult to alleviate people\u2019s fear and anxiety when the supposedly \u201cscientific\u201d message being presented changes every few months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Then, can we truly say that he \u201cworked relentlessly?\u201d During an ongoing global pandemic, he managed to find time to appear on the front cover of InStyle magazine, People magazine, and \u201cthrow\u201d out the first pitch at a Washington Nationals game. In reality, Fauci became a pseudo-celebrity as the notion of science increasingly became a political battleground, with the \u201cpro-science\u201d Democrats on one side, and the supposedly \u201canti-science\u201d Republicans on the other.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This \u201cpolitically charged environment\u201d raises the third issue, which is that Fauci was awarded for his \u201ccourage in speaking truth to power.\u201d We\u2019ve already established that Fauci\u2019s definition of the \u201ctruth\u201d should be taken with a modest pinch of salt. Then we must question what \u201cspeaking truth to power\u201d means in this context.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In September, Fauci denied that he was ever \u201cmuzzled\u201d by the Trump administration,<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fauci-awarded-1-million-prize-for-speaking-truth-to-power-in-apparent-trump-slight\"><span>saying<\/span><\/a> <span>that he \u201cwould never be muzzled about anything when it comes to science and evidence and the facts.\u201d Given that he was never silenced by Trump, does \u201cspeaking truth to power\u201d mean simply disagreeing on the interpretation of routinely misinterpreted data? If that is the case, one can presume that Fauci will receive this same award in 2022, given that he<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/02\/15\/starting-from-scratch-harris-contradicts-fauci-on-white-house-covid-vaccine-plan\/\"><span>debunked<\/span><\/a> <span>the Biden administration\u2019s false claims that they were \u201cstarting from scratch\u201d when it came to a national vaccine plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>One of the worst outcomes of the COVID-19 pandemic \u2014 beyond the physical and economic impact \u2014 has been the disregard of the objective virtue and the ultimate purpose of science, which is to seek the truth.
