Police believe it was part of a suicide deal between her and her husband. Gilland stated that Gilland couldn&#8217;t turn the gun against herself when Gilland was asked.<\/p>\n<p>Gilland was previously held without bond. She was released on bond after Judge Mary Jolley had read her charges.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Based upon the nature of the charge, Ms. Gilland, I am going to hold you no bond on the murder charge and remaining charges,&#8221; The judge stated,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox35orlando.com\/news\/florida-woman-who-shot-killed-husband-at-daytona-beach-hospital-charged-with-murder-denied-bond-police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Fox 35 Orlando<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the charges against Gilland were reduced to assisting self-murder\/manslaughter and aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, HuffPost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/ellen-gilland-released-bond-charged-murder_n_6404c173e4b0586db70e4ee9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Daytona Beach Police Department officers arrived at the AdventHealth Hospital around 11.35 am to discover that Ellen had killed Jerry with one bullet. She then locked herself inside his room.<\/p>\n<p>Hostage negotiators were sent to the hospital in an attempt to get Gilland out of his room.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They announced a code silver shelter in place, and that&#8217;s when sort of everything kind of became real,&#8221; Dr. Joshua Horenstein\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox35orlando.com\/news\/police-say-daytona-beach-hospital-shooting-was-a-preplanned-murder-suicide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a>\u00a0Fox 35.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><a class=\"c-link c-link--focus-visible\" href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-226354\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of the doors banged open, and the nurse came in screaming like this is not a drill. She was semi-hysterical,&#8221; He added.<\/p>\n<p>According to the doctor, he was one of two people who hid from doctors for over an hour in a closet.<\/p>\n<p>Police used flash bangs and a Taser for nearly four hours to convince Gilland to give up the gun. Fox 35 reports that Gilland was not considered to be a threat to others and that there were no injuries to staff members or patients.<\/p>\n<p>Jakari, Daytona Beach Police chief Jakari and Ellen Young revealed that Gillands had plotted the murder-suicide several weeks before Ellen shot the gun.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They had a conversation about it, and they planned this approximately three weeks ago that if he continues to take a turn for the worst that he wanted her to end it,&#8221; Young said.<\/p>\n<p>Gilland&#8217;s smuggling into hospital was not known, but the chief of police said that there were no metal detectors in the building.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a tough situation where her husband&#8217;s terminally ill so she was already in a depressed state just based on her husband being terminally ill and knowing that the end was near,&#8221; Young added.<\/p>\n<p>Young claimed that Jerry had planned to take his own life, but was too weak to trigger the gun.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/ellen-gilland-charged-with-murder-for-shooting-terminally-ill-husband-in-daytona-beach?fbclid=IwAR0yYbWQPmzdSjrQdhp37V5znvqOXIcZcUmp6nkmBwLv4P-Blqph3_vi2X8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. Police said that Ellen initially planned to kill Jerry.
