He has subpoenaed Nina Jankowicz. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/former-white-house-disinformation-czar-nina-jankowicz-registers-as-foreign-agent_4889358.html\">served<\/a> The Biden administration&#8217;s &#8220;disinformation czar.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jankowicz sent Jankowicz a note accompanying her subpoena, dated March 6.<a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/2023-03-06-jankowicz-deposition-subpoena-cover-letter.pdf\">pdf<\/a>Jordan said that Jordan is overseeing oversight for the Disinformation Governance Board (now defunct), including its creation, activities and formation.<\/p>\n<p>Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary Department of Homeland Security (DHS),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/dhs-secretary-says-he-wasnt-aware-of-disinformation-board-leaders-background_4445410.html\">announced<\/a> The creation of the board last April. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/dhs-terminates-disinformation-governance-board-months-after-pause_4688014.html\">disbanding<\/a> Four months later it was shut down amid concern that the agency might be used to censor government speech.<\/p>\n<p>Jankowicz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/white-houses-disinformation-board-paused-as-its-leader-submits-resignation_4474840.html\">resigned<\/a> Just weeks after being appointed as executive director, she took office in May 2022.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have repeatedly sought information from you concerning your official actions and duties as a DHS employee and former Executive Director of the Board, including how the Board intended to define disinformation, how it planned to collect information and from what sources, how it anticipated countering disinformation, and how it proposed to protect First Amendment rights,&#8221; Jordan wrote.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4475262\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/localimages\/Nina-Jankowicz-1200x675.jpg\"><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/a> Nina Jankowicz is a witness before the House Intelligence Committee regarding misinformation conspiracy theories, and infodemics during a virtual hearing held on October 15, 2020. (House Intelligence Committee\/Screenshot via The Epoch Times<\/figure>\n<p>Jordan provided a detailed timeline detailing how Jankowicz failed to reply to the panel&#8217;s request in the letter. The panel asked Jordan to resign in May 2022 before she provided a timeline. &#8220;voluntary cooperation.&#8221; In December 2022, the panel requested that she appear for a voluntary transcribed interview\u2014a request that was then repeated three more times this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To date, however, you have declined to comply voluntarily with our request for a transcribed interview,&#8221; Jordan wrote. &#8220;In light of your disregard of our earlier voluntary requests, please find attached a subpoena compelling you to appear for a deposition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jankowicz replied to Jordan by writing <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wiczipedia\/status\/1632894658283024386\">statement<\/a> On Twitter, she says that &#8220;ready to continue to stand up for the truth&#8221; And will not be &#8220;cowed by conspiracy theories or intimidation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I will happily testify to the truth of the Board under oath: That it was a working group meant to address disinformation that endangered Americans&#8217; safety, and that\u2014because of the Republican Party&#8217;s irresponsible lies about it\u2014our democracy is less secure,&#8221; Elle added.<\/p>\n<p>Her past statements have been scrutinized due to her brief position as board head. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/dhs-secretary-says-he-wasnt-aware-of-disinformation-board-leaders-background_4445410.html\">her citation<\/a> Christopher Steele (ex-British spy) is an authority on misinformation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/republican-lawmakers-voice-concern-bidens-orwellian-disinformation-board_4438652.html\">her false claims<\/a> The New York Post reported in 2022 that Hunter Biden had stolen his laptop.<\/p>\n<p>Jankowicz was elected November of last year. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/former-white-house-disinformation-czar-nina-jankowicz-registers-as-foreign-agent_4889358.html\">registered<\/a> As a Foreign Agent of a British Non-Profit Organization.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Subpoenas<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Jordan will also be present on Monday. <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/chairman-jim-jordan-subpoenas-officials-depositions\">subpoenaed<\/a> Chip Slaven (the former interim CEO and CEO of National School Boards Association) and Viola Garcia (the former president of NSBA) are available for depositions.<\/p>\n<p>The judiciary commission &#8220;is conducting oversight of the misuse of criminal and counterterrorism resources by the executive branch against concerned parents at local school board meetings and the effect on parents&#8217; protected First Amendment activity,&#8221; Jordan addressed separate letters to Slaven in separate correspondence<a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/chairman-jim-jordan-subpoenas-officials-depositions\">pdf<\/a>Garcia (<a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/2023-03-06-garcia-deposition-cover-letter.pdf\">pdf<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Two former officials of the NSBA were appointed in September 2021. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/tell-all-report-leads-the-texas-association-of-school-boards-to-quit-national-body_4492816.html\">co-signed a letter<\/a> To President Joe Biden asking for federal law enforcement in order to address threats made by parents to school board members.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes,&#8221; They <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20211010191912\/https:\/\/www.nsba.org\/-\/media\/NSBA\/File\/nsba-letter-to-president-biden-concerning-threats-to-public-schools-and-school-board-members-92921.pdf?la=en&#038;hash=642B7B91E0029BA4427D0F38D7054A007537160F\">joint letter<\/a> reads.<\/p>\n<p>This led to the October 2021 memo by Attorney General Merrick Garland. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/justice-department-to-roll-out-measures-protecting-school-staff-from-parents-threatening-violence_4032063.html\">launched<\/a> A probe against parents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Whistleblowers have disclosed that this memorandum resulted in the Federal Bureau of Investigation&#8217;s (FBI) establishment of a \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/whistleblowers-allege-fbi-investigated-parents-opposed-to-school-covid-19-policies_4462127.html\">threat tag<\/a>&#8216; and the Justice Department has confirmed that the FBI investigated at least 25 incidents as a result of the NSBA\u00a0letter you co-signed,&#8221; Jordan wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The NSBA finally succeeded. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/nsba-apologizes-to-members-over-letter-comparing-parents-to-domestic-terrorists_4064824.html\">issued<\/a> An apology was made for the sent letter. It stated that it had been misplaced. &#8220;no justification for some of the language included in the letter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jordan reminded Garcia and Slaven that Garcia had been contacted by the Ohio committee in January asking them to arrange for interviews. According to the Ohio lawmaker, interviews will shed light. &#8220;about the impetus&#8221; For the September 2021 Letter and other related Matters.<\/p>\n<p>Slaven and Garcia decided to not comply with the subpoenas.
