While speaking Tuesday, he said the left is pushing a narrative that all Republicans that oppose the legislation are \u201cbigots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roy claimed Democrats are not trying offer debate on the bill. Instead, he said they seem more focused on slamming it through while labeling lawmakers that oppose it as \u201cracists.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;The argument being distilled on the floor today is that republicans, that my colleagues and I, that we are bigots \u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Heaven forbid we want to use voter identification; heaven forbid we want to honor the will of the people&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Chip Roy Press Office (@RepChipRoy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepChipRoy\/status\/1366775259098189829?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The election bill, known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/1\/text\">H.R.1,<\/a> would be the most radical overhaul of U.S. election law in decades.
