It asks for a federal court&#8217;s to throw out the Interior Department\u2019s environmental analysis that was performed in connection with the lease sale. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/daily-on-energy-whats-in-store-for-oil-and-gas-leasing-this-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WHAT&#8217;S IN STORE FOR OIL AND GAS LEASING THIS YEAR<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>The plaintiff groups claimed that the analysis did not meet the legal requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act, and therefore should be stopped. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Selling off more of our lands and waters to the fossil fuel industry is the last thing we should do at a time when we need to be rapidly transitioning away from oil and gas to meet our nation&#8217;s climate goals and create a livable planet for all,&#8221; Athan Manuel is the director of Sierra Club&#8217;s Lands Protection Program. <\/p>\n<p>Inflation Reduction Act is a bill that the Democrats passed to reduce inflation. It includes green energy spending and healthcare spending. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/how-the-ira-is-revamping-oil-and-gas-leasing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">included orders<\/a> Interior must execute the three leases it has canceled in May 2022.
