These are the result of allegations that Favre, a former Green Bay Packers player, misused welfare funds to build a volleyball court for Southern Miss where his daughter plays volleyball. Herschmann said that Favre&#8217;s mishandling of millions was the fault of the state and that Pat McAfee and Shannon Sharpe were defaming his client in the course and substance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;Brett never got any of this money. They&#8217;re suing him for $5 million that went from the state agency that&#8217;s responsible for welfare funds and ended up in the pocket of another state agency, Southern Miss, and there&#8217;s some way they think that&#8217;s theft,&#8221; Herschmann argued.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;There may be a problem within Mississippi \u2026 but this really has nothing to do with Brett,&#8221; The attorney continued. According to Herschmann, Favre immediately returned the money after discovering that the money had been taken from the state welfare office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>John Davis, the ex-Executive Director of Mississippi Department of Human Services, was convicted last September of conspiracy and theft related to the $77 million welfare fraud. It is Mississippi\u2019s most serious case of public corruption. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/news\/brett-favre-scandal-explained-ex-nfl-qb-is-accused-of-misusing-of-mississippi-state-welfare-funds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>according<\/span><\/a><span> CBS. CBS. Favre was not charged with criminal wrongdoing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sharpe and McAfee dragged Favre to court after allegations were made that Favre had been involved in the scandal. Sharpe and McAfee called Favre a &#8220;scandalous&#8221; on his Fox Sports Show with Skip Bayless. &#8220;sleazeball&#8221; He said, &#8220;The quarterback must be.&#8221; &#8220;a sorry mofo to steal from the underserved.&#8221; Favre <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pennlive.com\/sports\/2023\/02\/brett-favre-suing-shannon-sharpe-pat-mcafee-for-saying-he-was-stealing-from-the-poor-people-of-mississippi.html\"><span>claims<\/span><\/a><span> McAfee falsely called Favre a host on Sirius XM&#8217;s own show. &#8220;thief&#8221; Who took it? &#8220;from the underprivileged people of Mississippi.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It takes a terrible mofo to steal from those who are least fortunate <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3oIhDABo8P\">pic.twitter.com\/3oIhDABo8P<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 shannon sharpe (@ShannonSharpe) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ShannonSharpe\/status\/1570076452489678849?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 14, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span>Favre also sued McAfee and Sharpe for defamation. But the lawyer believes that McAfee actually has. &#8220;slam dunk&#8221; Media personality being sued<\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;Pat McAfee keeps talking about it.
