This was apparently caused by a bird strike.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" data-placeholder-image=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/localimages\/twitter-minimal.jpg64064908b4922.jpg\" class=\"cmplz-placeholder-element twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Southwest Airlines&#8217; flight from Fort Lauderdale to Florida was forced to return to Cuba after a bird strike left the cabin smelling of smoke. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SxboAdc89n\">pic.twitter.com\/SxboAdc89n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 People (@people) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/people\/status\/1632805744738279433?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 6, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script type=\"text\/plain\" data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" async data-cmplz-src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>The plane &#8220;experienced bird strikes to an engine and the aircraft&#8217;s nose,&#8221; The airline released a statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Officials stated that the emergency evacuation to Havana was necessary due to cabin smoke and engine fire. According to officials, emergency masks were quickly deployed for the passengers after smoke filled the cabin. There were no reported injuries on board the Southwest flight that landed in Havana.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>According to one passenger, some passengers used the emergency exit slides on top of the wings by others in order to get out of the smoke-filled plane.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>John Nance is an analyst in aviation. He told ABC News &#8220;bird strikes happen everyday in commercial aviation but very seldom does it require an emergency return.
