And anyone would get to see the thousands of hours of surveillance footage from January 6, which has been hidden from the public for two years as a tiny group of people gets to make up stories about what happened that day and change the country on the basis of those stories.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How does that work exactly?&#8221; He asked. &#8220;Well, it&#8217;s not democracy, of course. It&#8217;s building a bulwark against your lies being revealed. And they are lying. And we know that because we&#8217;ve been looking at the tape.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A March 3, follow-up <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TuckerCarlson\/status\/1631769605902413824\">post<\/a> Carlson shared this Tweet: &#8220;the\u00a0results of our investigation will air Monday and Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET on the Fox News Channel,&#8221; Referring to his timeslot. Carlson didn&#8217;t provide any further information about the events. &#8220;hidden from the public.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. confirmed that McCarthy provided Carlson with over 41,000 hours Jan. 6, Capitol Security footage. This gave Carlson complete access. McCarthy indicated that Carlson&#8217;s work would be completed and the footage would then be available for public viewing at an undisclosed date.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News was not allowed to see surveillance footage. This move was criticized by both Democratic lawmakers and conservatives. Only a few corporate media media outlets <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/media-organizations-demand-jan-6-videos-mccarthy-shared-fox-news-tucker-carlson\/\">sent letters<\/a> McCarthy requested access to the footage. Carlson claimed there were concerns that Carlson would promote a biased narrative.<\/p>\n<p>CNN reported that Hakeem Jeffries of the House Minority Leader, a Democratic-N.Y. representative, spoke on Sunday to CNN. &#8220;State of the Union&#8221; It is not possible to determine if U.S. Capitol Police personnel are present &#8220;have vetted that footage&#8221; Carlson &#8220;It is my hope and expectation that that will absolutely occur,&#8221; He made the statement in an attempt cast McCarthy&#8217;s judgment as one that threatens Capitol security procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Last month,\u00a0MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/audio\/mike-lindell-says-he-will-sue-speaker-mccarthy-for-sharing-jan-6-footage-with-tucker-carlson_5081285.html\">announced<\/a> Steve Bannon announced that he planned to file suit against McCarthy in order to obtain the footage. (Joseph Prezioso\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<p>Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer (D.N.Y.), in February, criticised McCarthy for his comments &#8220;needlessly exposing the Capitol complex to one of the worst security risks since 9\/11&#8221; Carlson was given the footage. Schumer didn&#8217;t elaborate.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy replied to critics by telling The New York Times he had released the footage to fulfill a promise to Republicans.\u00a0&#8220;I was asked in the press about these tapes, and I said they do belong to the American public. I think sunshine lets everybody make their own judgment,&#8221; The California Republican stated.<\/p>\n<p>The House Speaker also stated that the American people have the right to see the truth about Jan. 6. He claimed that Democrats conducted a improper and partisan witch hunt against Trump and ex-administration officials in the previous Congress.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Controlled Access&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Some House Republicans, however, have indicated that Carlson and his staff don&#8217;t have full access to the footage. Rep. Barry Loudermilk (Republican from Georgia), is the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight&#8217;s head. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/tucker-carlson-has-limited-access-to-jan-6-tapes-republican-confirms_5089319.html\">told<\/a> News outlets reported last week that his committee worked with the Capitol Police, House sergeant at-arms and the Capitol Police in order to prevent any footage from being released to the public as a potential national security threat.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s basically controlled access to be able to view tapes.
