Joe Manchin (D-WV) <\/a><span class=\"ArticlePage-articleBody-firstLetter\">i<\/span>He is not in a hurry to reveal his plans. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2024-elections\">2024<\/a>This will ensure that the political world is always on their toes for the future. <\/p>\n<p>As fellow red-state Democratic Sens. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jon-tester\">Jon Tester (D-MT)<\/a>  <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/sherrod-brown\">Sherrod Brown (D-OH) <\/a>Having announced their 2020 Senate campaigns, all eyes now turn to the West Virginia Democrat. This centrist Democrat is the only candidate in a state for reelection. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/weekly-standard\/trump\">former President Donald Trump<\/a> He won in double figures for 2020, but he hasn&#8217;t made his plans public. <\/p>\n<p>If Manchin runs, West Virginia&#8217;s Senate race is one to watch closely. Since 2010, Manchin held the seat, defeating Republican rivals in a state that has turned into a deeply red state. However, Republican strategists consider West Virginia a prime opportunity for this cycle&#8217;s pickup. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Based on raw voter registration changes since 2018, and momentum, it&#8217;ll be a presidential election year and West Virginia is guaranteed to go for the Republican nominee \u2014 I just don&#8217;t see what Manchin&#8217;s path forward would be in the U.S. Senate race,&#8221; Conrad Lucas was a former chair of the West Virginia GOP. <\/p>\n<p>The senator was a troublemaker for the Biden government over the last two years. He has crossed party lines in opposition to legislation and blocked White House appointments. Recently, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/republicans-biden-first-veto-fight-esg-dc-crime-law\">he voted with Republicans to overturn a regulation related to environmental, social, and corporate governance<\/a> It is likely that the president will veto. <\/p>\n<p><b><u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/manchin-calls-democrats-negotiate-debt-ceiling-stop-this-madness\">MANCHIN CALLS ON DEMOCRATS TO NEGOTIATE OVER DEBT CEILING: &#8216;STOP THIS MADNESS&#8217;<\/a><\/u><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>He also opposed any efforts to abolish the filibuster which would allow Democrats to pass more legislation. Biden was blocked by him &#8220;Build Back Better&#8221; The social-spending agenda was not included in the final deal. However, it did include new expenditure on climate and health care as well as increased tax rates for businesses. <\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that he frustrates progressives most ambitious goals, Manchin still holds the West Virginia&#8217;s last Democrat-held high office. He is nevertheless a critical vote in the Senate to ensure party leadership. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If Joe Manchin doesn&#8217;t run, you&#8217;re never going to report on a Democratic senator from West Virginia in your lifetime,&#8221; Jon Kott was a senior adviser and former communications director at Manchin. <\/p>\n<p>After legislative gridlock, a shutdown of the government and flirting with leaving Capitol Hill, West Virginia Senator Kott decided that he would run for reelection. He narrowly won another six-year term in the Senate. Kott stated that this decision was made by his boss at the very last moment of the previous cycle. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He doesn&#8217;t even think about being in cycle until the year he has to be in cycle or until he has to file the paperwork,&#8221; He stated. &#8220;In 2018, I&#8217;m pretty sure he filed the paperwork the day of or the day before. He hadn&#8217;t said he was going to run again prior to filing the paperwork. So, I would not be surprised if you guys waited until January of 2024 for him to make up his mind.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Sen. John McCain&#8217;s political decision regarding his future in politics could impact the landscape of 2024 and change how the U.S. Senate is organized. There has been speculation that the senator might be reelected. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/joe-manchin-keeps-2024-presidential-run-open\">running for president in 2024<\/a> Although he was a candidate for third party, he recently told <i><u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wtrf.com\/hill-politics\/manchin-says-that-right-now-hes-not-running-for-president\/?utm_medium=referral&#038;utm_source=t.co&#038;utm_campaign=socialflow\">MetroNews<\/a><\/u><\/i> In a radio broadcast &#8220;right now,&#8221; This isn&#8217;t his intent. The senator&#8217;s political enemies claim that he excels at media attention generation and dominating news cycles. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What we know about Joe Manchin is that he always likes attention. He likes to be talked about.
