Ex-Republican presidential candidates like now are not included in the survey.<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/mitt-romney\">Sen. Mitt Romney<\/a> (R-UT), was accused of bringing his support to the conference in order to survey.<\/p>\n<p>However, the poll is not always a reliable predictor of who will be running for Republican nomination. Ted Cruz<\/a> In 2016, 40% of the support for (R-TX), was received. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/marco-rubio\">Sen. Marco Rubio<\/a> His runner-up was (R-FL), with 30%. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/rand-paul\">Sen. Rand Paul<\/a> With 26% of votes to the then-Gov, (R-KY), he was the preferred candidate. Scott Walker (R-WI), 21%<\/p>\n<p>However, the event is also indicative of Trump&#8217;s base. CPAC returned to D.C. after the Pandemic and was more aligned this year with Trump. It showcases Trump family members, his allies, as well as administration alumni.<\/p>\n<p>Trump will be closing Saturday&#8217;s CPAC 2023 conference as the keynote speaker.
