City Council&#8217;s bill to lower penalties for crimes such as carjackings or other lawlessness within the district. Muriel Bowser, Democratic Mayor of D.C., had vetoed the legislation. However, the city council overruled her decision. The House of Representatives, however, voted to strike it down \u2014 as is their right under the U.S. Constitution \u2014 and now it moves to the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I support D.C. Statehood and home-rule \u2013 but I don&#8217;t support some of the changes D.C. Council put forward over the Mayor&#8217;s objections \u2013 such as lowering penalties for carjackings,&#8221; He tweeted. &#8220;If the Senate votes to overturn what D.C. Council did \u2013 I&#8217;ll sign it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I support D.C. An anonymous House member <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/3881888-house-democrats-blindsided-as-biden-changes-tune-on-dc-crime-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vented to The Hill<\/a> Biden betrayed the Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So a lot of us who are allies voted no in order to support what the White House wanted,&#8221; Textual statement by the lawmaker &#8220;And now we are being hung out to dry \u2026 F****** AMATEUR HOUR. HEADS SHOULD ROLL OVER AT THE WHITE HOUSE OVER THIS.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, the same person also added &#8220;The White House f***** this up royally.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The move may have harmed the anti-police party members of his party but it strengthens Biden&#8217;s resume, talking points, and position heading into the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans have long claimed that the Democratic Party \u2014 and therefore Biden \u2014 is responsible for the crime wave facing America&#8217;s cities. The aftermath of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/defund-the-police-is-over\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Floyd riots and BLM movement<\/a> Numerous liberal cities attempted to effectively defund police departments in 2020. Rogue prosecutors, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/rogue-progressive-prosecutors-promote-lawlessness-not-reform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">often backed by George Soros<\/a>He won elections throughout the country and introduced lenient policies that permit repeat offenders to plague our streets.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-12955\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Biden, who basically renounced his tough on crime policies of the 90s during the 2020 presidential campaign, spent the past two years trying to seperate himself from those who want police defunded and weak punishments to be imposed in the name social justice.<\/p>\n<p>The GOP was quick to declare the chaos the GOP. &#8220;Biden crime wave.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Biden now has a concrete example to show that he supports police and wants to crackdown on thugs. He is not afraid to take on his political party for the sake of public safety.<\/p>\n<p>His team is already carrying that message.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One thing that the president believes in is making sure that the streets in America and communities across the country are safe, that includes in D.C. That does not change,&#8221; White House Press Secretary <span class=\"person-popover\" data-nid=\"77619\">Karine Jean-Pierre said Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When it comes to what this proposal brings forth, which is really lowering penalties for car-jacking, he doesn&#8217;t believe that&#8217;s going to keep our communities safe,&#8221; She added.<\/p>\n<p>The question of whether or not you agree with KJP&#8217;s claims is another matter. There are plenty of other examples the GOP can point to as evidence that Biden is making our nation more dangerous \u2014 his porous open border allowing fentanyl and potential criminals in, for example \u2014 but, assuming he actually does sign the override if it is passed, he can negate the rhetoric with evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. He was running into a buzzsaw.
