Newsom&#8217;s own party is composed of approximately 54% who said that they don&#8217;t want their governor to be the commander-in-chief of the country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A resounding thumbs down from the home team as California voters tell the Governor: if you have designs on the big job beyond Sacramento, we&#8217;re not on board,&#8221; Tim Malloy, Quinnipiac University&#8217;s Polling Analyst, stated.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom was elected to his second term in California as governor after defeating a citizen-led recall. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/california-playbook\/2023\/03\/02\/newsom-shouldnt-run-for-president-california-voters-say-00085149\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">POLITICO<\/a> He is. &#8220;all in&#8221; on Biden seeking reelection. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/7-10-california-voters-gavin-newsom-run-president-poll-resounding-thumbs-down\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a> According to reports, Newsom is open to running for the presidency if Biden withdraws from the race.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve told everyone in the White House, from the chief of staff to the first lady,&#8221; Newsom said.<\/p>\n<p>Only five candidates applied to run for the presidency with the <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Presidential_candidates,_2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Election Commission<\/a> (FEC), or announced exploratory committees. These include ex-President Donald Trump, former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, entrepreneur and political commentator Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Montana Secretary of State Corey Stapleton \u2014 all of whom are running as a Republican candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Marianne Williamson, a 2020 presidential hopeful and author, declared last month she would run as a Democrat.<\/p>\n<p>If Newsom files with FEC within the next months, more than half the state will still disapprove of his work as governor. They found that homelessness stood at 22%, affordable Housing at 17%, and inflation at 10%. This was the highest ranking on the list.<\/p>\n<p>84% of respondents believe that homelessness is a problem. &#8220;very&#8221; serious problem.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What worries the Golden State most? Dealing with the homeless crisis and finding a home Californians can afford to live in,&#8221; Malloy spoke.<\/p>\n<p>More than 4 out 10 Californians said that they would leave California because of the rising cost of living.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If they could afford to pack up their bags and put California in the rear-view mirror, they would,&#8221; Malloy spoke. &#8220;And who wants out the most? Overwhelmingly, Republicans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Newsom is also facing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/california-gov-newsom-proposes-reducing-climate-change-funding-amid-22-billion-state-budget-deficit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$22.5 billion state budget deficit<\/a>He had previously indicated that he would reduce the initial investments of billions in climate change programs and defer funding for other major programs.<\/p>\n<p>A U.C. survey also showed that Newsom was popular.
