Josh Hawley, R-Mo., engaged in heated exchange with Gestapo chief Merrick Grland during Wednesday&#8217;s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. Directly challenged Garland&#8217;s corrupt and politicized behavior. &#8220;Justice&#8221; Department, and focused on the once-respected agency\u2019s targeting of traditionalist Roman Catholics. Garland insisted, in spite all evidence, that the department wasn&#8217;t actually targeting Catholics. But he claimed not know how many spies or informants the feds have in terrorist hotbeds, traditional Catholic parishes. He didn&#8217;t claim that they had any of these spies or informants. If you&#8217;re Catholic, pay attention to the guy sitting behind you.<\/section>\n<section><\/section>\n<section>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) takes AG Merrick Garland to task on targeting Catholics<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FBI field office in Richmond, VA on January 23rd, issued a memo where they advocated for and I quote \u2018New avenues for trip-wire and source development against Traditionalist Catholics,\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gMsTBOARpH\">https:\/\/t.co\/gMsTBOARpH<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AboVkaKblM\">pic.twitter.com\/AboVkaKblM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mariana (@lonestarherd) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lonestarherd\/status\/1631002510071660570?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 1, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section><\/section>\n<section><\/section>\n<section><\/section>\n<section><\/section>\n<section class=\"post-body\">began by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lonestarherd\/status\/1631002510071660570\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Asking<\/a>\u00a0Garland: &#8220;The FBI field office in Richmond, on the 23rd of January of this year, issued a memorandum in which they advocated for, and I quote, \u2018the exploration of new avenues for trip-wire and source development against Traditionalist Catholics&#8217; \u2014 it&#8217;s their, their language \u2014 \u2018including those who favor the Latin Mass.&#8217; Attorney General, are you cultivating sources and spies in Latin Mass parishes and other Catholic parishes around the country?&#8221;Garland seemed to be shaken, but his reply was unambiguous: he was on Hawley\u2019s side, doncha know? &#8220;No,&#8221; &#8220;Said the passionately partisan attorney general. &#8220;the Justice Department does not do that and does not, uh, um, do investigations based on religion. I saw the document you sent.&#8221; Hawley retorted at that point. &#8220;What did you do about it?&#8221;Garland, however ignored this important question and continued to drive: &#8220;It&#8217;s appalling. It&#8217;s appalling. I&#8217;m in complete agreement with you. I understand that the FBI has withdrawn it and it&#8217;s now looking into how this could ever have happened.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-4\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-300x250_5\" class=\"gpt-ad ad-250 text-center\" data-google-query-id=\"CIe_hu7jvf0CFfwITwgdi2gI6A\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/6177\/pjmedia\/news-and-politics\/300x250_5_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Although it sounded wonderful, Garland was not truthful in suggesting that this was a bizarre accident that had inexplicably occurred. The far-Left culture is now deeply embedded in the FBI, and the Justice Department. Garland, who was the chief exponent of this culture wasn&#8217;t about to admit its existence.<\/p>\n<p>Hawley continued to press him, however, and asked, &#8220;How did it happen?&#8221; Garland responded, &#8220;That&#8217;s what they&#8217;re looking into. But I&#8217;m totally in agreement with you, that document is appalling.&#8221; Hawley then confronted Garland direct about the Leftism of the feds: &#8220;I&#8217;ll tell you how it happened. The \u2014 this memorandum, which is supposed to be intelligence, cites extensively the Southern Poverty Law Center, which goes on to identify all of these different Catholics as being part of hate groups. Is, is this how the FBI, under your direction and leadership, is, is this how they do their intelligence work? They look, they look at Left-wing advocacy groups to target Catholics? Is this what&#8217;s going on? I mean, clearly it is. How many informants do you have in Catholic churches across America?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Garland then gave the most unintentionally shocking answer of all during the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know the answer and don&#8217;t believe there are any informants who want to target Catholic churches. We have a prohibition against investigations that are based on First Amendment activity. Uh, Catholic churches are clearly, uh First Amendment activity. But I do not know the answer to your specific question.<\/p>\n<p>It was amazing enough that Garland didn&#8217;t state unambiguously that the feds don&#8217;t have any spies inside Catholic churches. And essentially, he admitted that they could. He continued to blather about the First Amendment. Garland&#8217;s statement in this instance is loopholed and vague. It states that investigations in Catholic churches don&#8217;t take place because of Catholic worship. Garland can thus maintain that his division respects &#8220;First Amendment activity.&#8221; The informants and spies who are believed to be present in Catholic churches today may have been involved with Catholic pro-life activism. Garland&#8217;s corrupt Justice Department clearly considers this a manifestation of the &#8220;right-wing extremism&#8221; It keeps claiming that this is the greatest terror threat to the country today.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"post-body\">Hawley also criticized Garland for not taking responsibility. &#8220;You don&#8217;t know the specifics of anything, it seems, but apparently on your watch, this Justice Department is targeting Catholics, targeting people of faith, specifically for their faith views.&#8221; Indeed. Garland is a dark and ominous authoritarian who knows the extent of the firestorm that he could ignite if he did. Expect the stonewalling and denial to continue.
