I mean, I think the trans community is asking for too much,&#8221; Maher said. &#8220;Again, the difference between liberal and woke.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And it&#8217;s great we live in a time where people like that can freely live the lives they should live with all the dignity and protection of the law that we can afford them, like anybody else in society. I think that&#8217;s the liberal point of view,&#8221; Before he explained how woke people see the matter, Maher said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The woke point of view is something very different, like \u2014 \u2018well, babies are born now and just jump ball, we don&#8217;t know what they are,'&#8221; Maher made fun of it. &#8220;\u2018Congratulations, you have a boy. Well, let&#8217;s not be hasty. There&#8217;s a penis. That could be an indication of a male, but it&#8217;s \u2014 it&#8217;s really\u2013 we&#8217;ll find out later. And we can always get rid of it.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And it&#8217;s not wrong to have this discussion,&#8221; Maher stated that some people are so naive as to believe that any discussion is hateful or a phobia. However, I also see Dave Chappelle doing very well.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>BILL MAHER : Yes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>TAPPER: There&#8217;s one thing I \u2014 I wanted to get your reaction to something because obviously Chappelle has been criticized a lot because of his \u2014 making fun of transgender\u2013 the transgender community.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This is what David Cross says, and he&#8217;s \u2014 David Cross is a pretty edgy comedian and \u2014<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>MAHER: Yes, great \u2014 great comedian.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>TAPPER: And he says \u2014 this is \u2014 he&#8217;s talking \u2014 he&#8217;s not talking about you certainly, and he&#8217;s not even talking about Chappelle necessarily in the quote, but he&#8217;s talking about people who make the kind of jokes making fun of transgender, he said, you&#8217;re positioning yourself as this bull**** voice of, they&#8217;re not going to cancel me. You cannot silence me.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What? Your dumb joke about trans people? Who gives a damn? You don&#8217;t think it is that important. You can just move on and not cause harm to hundreds of thousands of people. It is a choice that people make.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>That was an interesting quote. I think the bigger criticism of Chappelle, from people like David Cross, is that he&#8217;s punching down and not punching up like Carlin.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What do you think?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>MAHER: I disagree. I&#8217;m referring to the fact that I believe the trans community asks for too much. The difference between liberals and woke is again evident.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Liberals are people who I think would say \u2014 I certainly would\u2013 trans is, of course, a real thing. You know, some people are just, you know, I don&#8217;t \u2014 I&#8217;m \u2014 they probably don&#8217;t like this terminology, but born in the wrong body, whatever the \u2014 the equipment doesn&#8217;t match how you feel.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Absolutely. It&#8217;s amazing that they can live their lives with the dignity and protection afforded them by the law. This is the liberal perspective.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The woke point of view is something very different, like \u2014 well, babies are born now and just jump ball, we don&#8217;t know what they are.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Congratulations! We can always get rid it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It&#8217;s not wrong for us to have this conversation. This is some \u2014 something that&#8217;s very new. It&#8217;s not to shut it \u2014 to shut down debate with these words like phobia.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You&#8217;re phobic and you hate \u2014 we don&#8217;t hate. It is not hate. It&#8217;s not phobic.
