Ted Cruz (R-TX) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/gop-senators-confront-garland-on-protesters-outside-homes-of-supreme-court-justices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Garland Pressed<\/a>Wednesday&#8217;s appearance by a Senator Judiciary Committee member was about media reports regarding the inquiries into President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve read the leaks. They are inappropriate,&#8221; Garland testified. &#8220;We also don&#8217;t know where they come from.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During his line of questioning, Cruz expressed the view that the leaks have been politically motivated, benefiting one side \u2014 Biden and the Democrats \u2014 while hurting Trump. The senator said that the Justice Department was responsible for the leaks. &#8220;intention&#8221; To indict Trump &#8220;infinitely harder&#8221; Biden&#8217;s multiple residences were the first to be uncovered with classified documents.<\/p>\n<p>After noticing how &#8220;miraculously&#8221; Cruz asked the attorney General if there were any leaks about classified documents being discovered at Biden\u2019s office at a D.C. think-tank right before the 2022 midterm election. Cruz also inquired if there had been a double standard in light of the torrent of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/04\/07\/1091431136\/justice-department-investigating-trumps-possible-mishandling-of-government-secre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leaks concerning the Trump inquiry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Leaks under all circumstances are inappropriate and they are not directed by anyone in the Justice Department,&#8221; Garland said.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz said that it was before his time expired. &#8220;striking&#8221; To him that leaks around the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/grassley-tells-garland-of-12-sources-with-potential-dirt-on-hunter-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">federal investigation into Hunter Biden<\/a> seem to be more concerned with tax crimes and a false declaration related to a purchase of a gun that could be complicated. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/10\/06\/politics\/hunter-biden-investigation-federal-prosecutors-weighing-charges\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Histories of drug use<\/a> Instead of the &#8220;very real evidence&#8221; Corruption involving the father of the younger Biden, President Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Garland has appointed two special counsels to investigate Trump\u2019s and Joe Biden\u2019s handling of government records. He attributes this move to their ambitions for re-election in 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2023\/03\/01\/fbi-dispute-trump-mar-a-lago-raid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Washington Post reported<\/a> On Wednesday, prosecutors defeated FBI agents who tried to stop the plan to raid Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago resort last summer in Florida in search of classified documents.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Josh Hawley (Republican from Missouri) asked Garland to answer the new reporting. However, the attorney general said he was not allowed to discuss the investigation. Garland however stated that it is not uncommon for there to be a &#8220;robust discussion&#8221; Between investigators and prosecutors. Garland said that he also believed in the prosecutors and investigators. &#8220;approved the decision to seek a search warrant after probable cause was found.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hawley stated that the FBI was unsure of Garland&#8217;s leadership abilities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;FBI field agents did not want to conduct the raid and they were overruled by [the Justice Department],&#8221; Hawley stated. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t seem to me, attorney general, that the FBI has a lot of confidence in you because what they&#8217;re doing, clearly, is trying to distance themselves from your decisions.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Attorney General Merrick Garland assured U.S. Senators, under oath, that leaks about investigations regarding presidents\u2019 handling of sensitive documents while out of office are not \u201cdirected\u201d by the Justice Department.
