Can&#8217;t record, can&#8217;t take anything with you,&#8221; Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), who chairs the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, said in response to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/3877350-copies-of-jan-6-clips-given-to-carlson-subject-to-security-review-republicans-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a question from The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Carlson&#8217;s team &#8220;may request any particular clips they may need, then we&#8217;ll make sure there&#8217;s nothing sensitive, nothing classified, including escape routes,&#8221; Loudermilk <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/tucker-carlson-fox-news-january-6-police-videos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told CBS News<\/a>. &#8220;We don&#8217;t want al Qaeda to know certain things.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/02\/20\/kevin-mccarthy-tucker-carlson-jan-6-riot-footage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axios first reported<\/a> last week that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/speaker-mccarthy-releases-41000-hours-of-exclusive-jan-6-footage-to-tucker-carlson-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shared with Carlson 41,000 hours<\/a> of surveillance footage from January 6, 2021, the day a crowd of people entered the U.S. Capitol, disrupting lawmakers who were meeting to certify President Joe Biden&#8217;s 2020 election victory. A Fox News spokesperson stated that Axios&#8217;s report was accurate.<\/p>\n<p>On his show, &#8220;Tucker Carlson Tonight,&#8221; Carlson said his team had been granted what they believe to be &#8220;unfettered&#8221; access to the tapes. Carlson stated that he would start sharing the footage his team discovered this week.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tucker Carlson Announces that His Show has been Given Access to 44k Hours of Footage Starting January 6th <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We believe that access is unfettered. We believe we have secured the right to see whatever we want to see.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re going to spend the rest of this week taking a look at it,\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/sK7691S0n8\">https:\/\/t.co\/sK7691S0n8<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GnPvtbENg5\">pic.twitter.com\/GnPvtbENg5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Columbia Bugle \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@ColumbiaBugle) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ColumbiaBugle\/status\/1627851223092035591?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 21, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/02\/25\/news-outlets-mccarthy-capitol-footage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A variety of media organizations<\/a> followed suit by asking congressional leadership to give them access to the same footage.<\/p>\n<p>Loudermilk reportedly offered assurance that other news outlets and the public would also get access, eventually. &#8220;Hopefully sooner rather than later, but I think we&#8217;re talking about weeks to months,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The congressman also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/02\/28\/house-gop-moving-to-let-jan-6-defendants-access-capitol-security-footage-00084763\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told POLITICO<\/a> that House Republicans intend to give January 6 defendants access to relevant documents and video &#8220;on a case-by-case basis, as requested by attorneys representing defendants.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><a class=\"c-link c-link--focus-visible\" href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-130926\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>McCarthy said last month he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/kevin-mccarthy-shares-best-way-to-release-january-6-tapes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">looking to release the tapes<\/a> because of the &#8220;politicization&#8221; he believed had been fostered by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the January 6 Committee, which focused heavily on former President Donald Trump in its investigation and final report.<\/p>\n<p>In brief remarks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/02\/22\/us\/politics\/tucker-carlson-jan-6-mccarthy.html?smid=tw-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times last week<\/a>, McCarthy boiled down his decision to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/kevin-mccarthy-breaks-silence-on-giving-january-6-tapes-to-tucker-carlson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fulfillment of a promise<\/a>. &#8220;I was asked in the press about these tapes, and I said they do belong to the American public,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I think sunshine lets everybody make their own judgment.&#8221; In addition, McCarthy insisted to the newspaper that his team staff members were taking the matter &#8220;Very seriously.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Over the past week, Democrats issued myriad alarming statements about risks to Capitol security and the potential to fuel Russian propaganda.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to House Democrats, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/democrats-to-huddle-about-reported-breach-of-january-6-tapes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said his team<\/a> was &#8220;working to confirm the precise nature of the video transfer,&#8221; which he called a &#8220;reported breach,&#8221; and he stated there was &#8220;no indication&#8221; that McCarthy and Carlson followed the same protocols adopted by the January 6 Committee in handling the footage.<\/p>\n<p>A Democratic member of the January 6 Committee, Maryland&#8217;s Rep. Jamie Raskin, questioned whether the release of the tapes could <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepRaskin\/status\/1627765857131679759\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">become a &#8220;roadmap&#8221; for a 2024 &#8220;insurrection.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some Republicans have cheered the move, including Rep.
