It cited Garland&#8217;s late 2022 appointment as a reference.<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jack-smith\">Jack Smith, special counsel<\/a><br \/>\n To handle Trump questions related to the Capitol Riot and Mar-a-Lago classified record sagas, and the attorney general&#8217;s Jan 2023 selection for special counsel<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/robert-k-hur\">Robert Hur<\/a><br \/>\n To investigate Biden&#8217;s mishandling classified records as a cause for the resignation.<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/fairness-justice\/doj-reveals-reason-for-stonewalling-investigations-into-biden-trump-docs\">DOJ had restricted information sharing on these subjects<\/a><br \/>\n.\n<\/p>\n<p>Smith is a DOJ veteran prosecutor who was a long-serving prosecutor. He was, up until last year, a prosecutor in The Hague where he investigated war crimes against Kosovo. Smith is a<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/special-counsel-jack-smith-war-crimes-garland-investigate-trump\">Mixed track record when it comes to going after high profile politicians<\/a><br \/>\n Both from the parties and he also tried to<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/trump-special-counsel-jack-smith-involved-lois-lerner-irs-scandal\">Involve the DOJ in IRS official Lois Lerner\u2019s efforts to examine conservative nonprofit groups<\/a><br \/>\n.\n<\/p>\n<p>Garland has not been asked any significant questions about this.\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Hunter Biden<\/b>\n<\/p>\n<p>Joe Biden, his campaign and his allies<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/clapper-blames-politico-distortion-baselessly-claiming-russian-involvement-hunter-biden\">Baselessly dismissing the Hunter Biden laptop story in disinformation as Russian propaganda<\/a><br \/>\n October 2020 Konstantinos &#8220;Gus&#8221; Dimitrelos, a former Secret Service agent who is an expert in cyber-security,<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/hunter-bidens-laptop-is-100-authentic-forensic-examination-concludes\">Conduct a forensic investigation<\/a><br \/>\n The following are the recommendations: <i>Washington Examiner<\/i> And finally, &#8220;100% certainty&#8221; That &#8220;the data contained on the hard drive is authentic.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>Whistleblowers reported Timothy Thibault as the former FBI Special Agent in Charge of the Washington Field Office.<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/jim-jordan-on-why-the-select-subcommittee-on-the-weaponization-of-the-federal\">&#8220;ordered closed&#8221; An &#8220;avenue of additional derogatory Hunter Biden reporting&#8221;<\/a><br \/>\n In October 2020, even though &#8220;all of the reporting was either verified or verifiable via criminal search warrants.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/whistleblowers-hunter-biden-wrongly-labeled-disinformation-fbi\">whistleblower disclosures made public<\/a><br \/>\n By Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-IA), a senator of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also claimed that Brian Auten was an FBI supervisory analysts &#8220;opened an assessment which was used by an FBI headquarters team to improperly discredit negative Hunter Biden information as disinformation and caused investigative activity to cease&#8221; 2020\n<\/p>\n<p>Wray<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/wray-fbi-whistleblower-claims-hunter-biden-inquiry-deeply-troubling\">He found these whistleblower accusations &#8220;deeply troubling&#8221;<\/a><br \/>\n August when they were asked about them. Grassley and other Republicans have pressed the DOJ to provide answers, and Garland will be questioned about it Wednesday.\n<\/p>\n<p>Grassley previously requested that the Justice Department and FBI conduct a complete investigation into Hunter Biden\u2019s computer, including the revelations discovered on Hunter Biden\u2019s computer by the FBI. <i>Washington Examiner<\/i> That<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/hunter-biden-laptop-investigation-grassley-johnson-doj-fbi\">Now-President Biden unwittingly funded his son&#8217;s participation to an escorte ring linked to Russia.<\/a><br \/>\n.\n<\/p>\n<p>Biden asked all Senate-confirmed U.S. lawyers to resign in February 2021. Delaware U.S. attorney David Weiss was an exception.<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice-department-trump-us-attorneys-resign\">Stay on and watch as he investigates Hunter Biden<\/a><br \/>\n. The son of the president revealed that he was actually under<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/doj-inspecting-hunter-biden-for-potential-foreign-lobbying-violations-report\">federal investigation<\/a><br \/>\n After the 2020 election, he was taxed and is being investigated for possible money laundering as well as possible violations of foreign lobbying under the Foreign Agents Registration Act.\n<\/p>\n<p>Numerous Republicans have called Garland for help.<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/garland-called-to-investigate-hunter-biden-after-displaying-artwork\">Designate a special counsel for the investigation<\/a><br \/>\n Hunter Biden and William Barr (ex-Attorney General) switched from opposing to supporting the appointment of a special counselor. Garland<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/dozens-of-republicans-call-for-garland-to-appoint-hunter-biden-special-counsel\">The majority of the time, they were ignored<\/a><br \/>\n When he was quizzed on the subject in April 2022, he said so and will likely be pressed again Wednesday.\n<\/p>\n<p><b>China Initiative<\/b>\n<\/p>\n<p>Recent revelations regarding a<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense-national-security\/pentagon-chinese-spy-balloon-surveil-us-strategic-sites\"> China surveillance balloon traversing the continent of the United States<\/a><br \/>\n There is also the possibility of<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense-national-security\/dragonbear-alliance-china-propped-up-russia-war-machine-ukraine-invasion\">China is looking at Russia for lethal weapons<\/a><br \/>\n Garland will likely be quizzed about its invasion of Ukraine by the DOJ, particularly given Garland&#8217;s closing of the DOJ\u2019s Trump-era China Initiative.\n<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, the China Initiative was launched. However, the Biden DOJ shut it down in February 2022. It is sandwiched between the department and the China Initiative.<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/doj-sheds-light-rise-domestic-terrorism-cases\">Unveiling a unit for domestic terrorism<\/a><br \/>\n The previous month and<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/doj-launches-kleptocapture-task-force-to-target-russian-oligarchs\">Launching a task force to attack Russian oligarchs<\/a><br \/>\n The month following.\n<\/p>\n<p>Republicans have criticised the Biden administration&#8217;s ending of the China-focused initiative. They are now pushing for a new law to revive it and rebrand it as a &#8220;CCP Initiative&#8221;<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/foreign\/gop-pushes-law-reviving-ccp-initiative-scuttled-by-biden-admin\">It was aimed directly at the Chinese Communist Party&#8217;s threat<\/a><br \/>\n.\n<\/p>\n<p>Garland<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/patriotism-unity\/garland-china-initiative-chinese-espionage-charges\">The China Initiative was closed down.<\/a><br \/>\n In October 2022, insisting on &#8220;we are unrelenting in our efforts to prevent the government of China from economic espionage&#8221; That and more &#8220;we have not in any way changed our focus on those kind of behaviors by China.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p><b>School Board Protests<\/b>\n<\/p>\n<p>Garland was inspired by a 2021 National School Boards Association letter that had been withdrawn to aid police in responding to threats against school board members. Republicans were arguing<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/nsba-internal-memo-shows-coordination-with-white-house-on-letter-comparing-parent-protests-to-domestic-terrorism\">The Biden White House and the Biden White House conspired to create the letter.<\/a><br \/>\n und the national school boards group which later quit.\n<\/p>\n<p>Garland<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/doj-talked-with-white-house-before-issuing-domestic-terrorism-school-protest-memo\">revealed<\/a><br \/>\n In 2021, the White House and DOJ communicated about the September 2021 NSBA Letter just before he issued his Oct 2021.<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/doj-school-board-violence-memo-targets-concerned-parents\">Memo<\/a><br \/>\nNSBA letter requesting the DOJ to examine the PATRIOT Act deployment &#8220;in regards to domestic terrorism&#8221; against parents protesting. Garland&#8217;s memo stated that it would &#8220;discourage these threats, identify them when they occur, and prosecute them when appropriate.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>Internal<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/white-house-knew-about-letter-that-compared-parents-to-domestic-terrorists\/\">Emails <\/a><br \/>\nSome NSBA board member objected to Biden&#8217;s sending of the letter, and some school boards group members.<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/nsba-apologizes-for-letter-calling-parents-domestic-terrorists\">Withdrew<\/a><br \/>\n And he apologized.\n<\/p>\n<p>Garland<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/garland-defends-doj-memo-despite-nsba-letter-being-withdrawn\">Doubled down <\/a><br \/>\nDuring congressional testimony in 2021, he argued that NSBA&#8217;s subsequent apology was a mistake. &#8220;does not change the association&#8217;s concern about violence and threats of violence.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>The FBI&#8217;s National Security Division and the DOJ&#8217;s National Security Division<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/doj-and-fbi-national-security-officials-downplay-role-in-carrying-out-garlands-school-board-memo\">Garland&#8217;s orders were not carried out by them, so they downplayed their role.<\/a><br \/>\n 2022\n<\/p>\n<p><b>John Durham<\/b>\n<\/p>\n<p>Durham was asked by the Biden administration to resign as U.S. Attorney from Connecticut.
