Bill Lee must sign the legislation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\"><span>The legislation was passed by the State House 77 to 16, with three Democrats voting for the Republicans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>After allowing for a grace for those who have begun to transition, the bill would give the attorney general the authority to investigate healthcare providers who break the ban and could be fined up $25,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\"><span>William Lamberth, House Majority leader, made the comment that &#8220;These children do not need these medical procedures to be able to flourish as adults.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>&#8220;They need mental health treatment. They need love and support, and many of them need to be able to grow up to become the individuals that they were intended to be,&#8221; Lamberth added,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Similar bills were also popular in other Republican-led states like South Carolina, Mississippi, Oklahoma and South Dakota.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the meantime, the American Civil Liberties Union <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2023\/02\/24\/tennessee-ban-gender-affirming-care-minors\/11337522002\/\"><span>Signaled<\/span><\/a><span> If the bill is made into law, it will challenge it in court. <\/span><span>&#8220;All Tennesseans should have access to the health care they need to survive and thrive,&#8221; Lucas Cameron-Vaughn (an ACLU-TN staff attorney), made the observation in a statement, before proceeding to argue <\/span><span>&#8220;Legislators are risking trans young people&#8217;s health, wellbeing and safety with this dangerous legislation.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\"><span>Tennessee lawmakers pledged to act following an investigation by Matt Walsh, Daily Wire host, who found that Vanderbilt officials had used the term transitions, specifically sex change operations as a way to get around them. &#8220;big money makers.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In 2018, Vanderbilt opened a trans clinic. Bill Lee to call for an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2022\/09\/21\/vanderbilt-tennessee-governor-lee-matt-walsh-transgender-surgeries-minors\/\"><span>investigation<\/span><\/a><span> into Vanderbilt University Medical Center in September.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In addition, Breitbart News revealed last year that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/social-justice\/2022\/07\/01\/vanderbilt-health-sponsors-childrens-lgbt-pride-event-profits-sex-change-attempts\/\"><span>Vanderbilt Health<\/span><\/a><span> was the sole sponsor of the &#8220;kids and family&#8221; portion of the Nashville Pride Parade, which included both drag bingo and drag queen story hour.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Tennessee&#8217;s State legislature also recently passed a bill that would <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/social-justice\/2023\/02\/26\/tennessee-legislature-passes-bill-to-ban-drag-shows-in-front-of-kids\/\"><span>prevent drag shows<\/span><\/a><span> from taking place in front of children or on public property.
