They also allow illegal immigrants to get a driver&#8217;s licence.<\/p>\n<p>First, the legislation known as the Restore the Vote Bill is up. This bill passed the Senate last Thursday and the House&#8217;s version was approved earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Both chambers of Congress are controlled by Democrats. CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/02\/23\/politics\/minnesota-governor-ex-felons-voting-rights\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Walz has been reported as being in the news<\/a> Is &#8220;expected to sign the legislation&#8221; As soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota will join <a href=\"https:\/\/felonvoting.procon.org\/state-felon-voting-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">22 other states<\/a> in restoring the voting rights of convicted felons the moment they leave prison \u2013 regardless of what happens during their parole. Three other options allow criminals to vote <em>While<\/em> incarcerated.<\/p>\n<p>CNN reports that Republican Senators tried to introduce Amendments &#8220;preventing incarcerated people who had been convicted of more violent crimes, including child rape, from having their voting rights restored under the bill.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, Bobby Joe Champion, Democratic State Senate President, dismissed such concerns. &#8220;anyone who reoffended would ultimately have to go back to prison.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Voting is at the heart of democracy.
