He seems certain that the transparency would show that the virus was transmitted naturally and not through a laboratory leak in Wuhan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The only way we&#8217;ll know is if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/china\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">China<\/a> opens up and we get American scientists, Canadian scientists, Australian scientists to go there and do the kind of surveillance in the wild,&#8221; Fauci <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2023\/02\/23\/magazine\/why-dr-anthony-fauci-recently-retired-will-never-retire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neil Swidey, Editor-at-large at the Boston Globe Magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The problem is that they&#8217;ve attacked the Chinese so badly,&#8221; He added. &#8220;The Chinese authorities act suspicious, even when they have nothing to hide.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Since the first COVID cases were reported to Wuhan in December 2019, Beijing has been frustrating scientists trying to determine the origins of the pandemic. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/world-health-organization\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Health Organization<\/a> Because of China&#8217;s difficulties cooperating, the WHO has abandoned plans to conduct a second critical phase in its COVID investigation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-023-00283-y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Journal Nature reports<\/a> This month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have repeatedly and publicly said that the origin needs investigating and China must provide access and info for this to happen \u2014 and if this doesn&#8217;t happen, efforts to understand the origins will remain rather stymied,&#8221; WHO spokesperson Tarik Ja\u0161arevi\u0107 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/who-abandon-covid-origin-investigation-china-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">POLITICO &#8211; a message<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/covid-origin-china-lab-leak-807b7b0a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal published the story<\/a> Over the weekend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-intel-prompts-energy-dept-to-assess-covid-likely-leaked-from-wuhan-lab-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Energy Department received new intelligence<\/a> To assess with &#8220;low confidence&#8221; The pandemic was likely started with a laboratory leak. This is a departure from China&#8217;s previous position of being undecided. This assessment provides further support to both Republicans and scientists who have long claimed that China is involved in a cover-up. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/china\/diplomacy\/article\/3087915\/china-denies-coronavirus-cover-and-insists-relations-rest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beijing has denied<\/a>. Other U.S. government agencies and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/02\/09\/who-outlines-wuhan-findings-on-origins-of-covid-pandemic.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Preliminary WHO assessment<\/a> Since 2021, more people have put their faith in natural emergence theory.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci, a long-standing director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), was the face of federal government&#8217;s response against COVID under the Trump and Biden administrations. Fauci was even President Joe Biden\u2019s chief medical advisor. Fauci, now that he is no longer in government, is metaphorically patient zero to Republicans in control of Congress who are conducting their own investigation into the origins of COVID.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><a class=\"c-link c-link--focus-visible\" href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rep. James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, is the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee. He stated last month that Fauci had sent his own emails. <a href=\"https:\/\/comer.house.gov\/2022\/1\/comer-fauci-s-emails-raise-questions-of-lab-leak-cover-up\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raise questions<\/a> On whether Fauci hid information about COVID being derived in a lab. Fauci claims that his emails do not show any such evidence.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The lab leak issue was always a possible explanation,&#8221; Globe Magazine quoted Fauci. &#8220;Go back and look at my unredacted e-mails. I was the one that said, \u2018Let&#8217;s look into this. It&#8217;s really important.&#8217; And yet there&#8217;s this meme out there that I tried to suppress the lab-leak theory, which is ludicrous. Go look at the [expletive] e-mails. Unbelievable! Holy smokes!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Fauci claimed to be open to the theory of lab leakage, but he argued for natural transmission as the most likely explanation. He cited research by &#8220;some very unbiased, molecular evolutionary virologists from five or six different countries&#8221; whose work was peer-reviewed, published and accepted for publication. A comparison: Evidence for a leakage in a lab includes &#8220;2,000 tweets that said it should be,&#8221; Fauci quipped.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci&#8217;s federal funding for coronavirus research and its ties to Wuhan Institute of Virology is one area where Republicans have promised to investigate. Fauci has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/04\/fauci-says-rand-paul-egregiously-incorrect-about-gain-of-function-research.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vocally denied<\/a> This work involved gain-of-function research where viruses are modified to become more deadly. Fauci claimed that the Wuhan-based research cannot have led to COVID.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you look at the viruses that the Wuhan investigators were working with, anybody who even knows a little bit about virology will tell you that it would be molecularly impossible to turn [those viruses] into this virus,&#8221; Fauci said. &#8220;Even if you deliberately try to do it, you couldn&#8217;t do it.
