This was Friday. Judicial Watch filed this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/jw-v-ca-nvra-complaint-08948\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forensic Proceedings<\/a> in 2017\u00a0on behalf of itself and four registered voters in Los Angeles County. Another public interest group, Election Integrity Project California, Inc., was also part of the lawsuit. <\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles had to send out 1.6 million confirmation notices of address to the voters. &#8220;inactive&#8221; on its voter lists. According to the National Voter Registration Act \u2014 which requires states to maintain accurate voter rolls \u2014 states and counties must remove from their voting rolls voters who do not respond to such mailers and do not vote in the next two federal elections. <\/p>\n<p>Its most recent progress <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/tags\/la-voter-rolls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Report<\/a> Los Angeles informed Judicial Watch that it had removed approximately 1.2 million non-eligible voters from its rolls in compliance with the settlement. The county revealed last year that 634,000 of its inactive voter hadn&#8217;t voted for 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>Judicial Watch filed its first lawsuit in 2017. It was filed in 2017. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/california-and-los-angeles-county-to-remove-1-5-million-inactive-voters-from-voter-rolls-settle-judicial-watch-federal-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">argued<\/a> Los Angeles County had a higher number of registered voters than the residents who are eligible to register. &#8220;highest number of inactive registrations of any single county in the country.&#8221; The U.S. Election Assistance Commission data at the time showed that the voter registration rate for the county was 112 per cent of its adult population.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This long overdue voter roll clean-up of 1.2 million registrations in Los Angeles County is a historic victory and means California elections are less at risk for fraud,&#8221; Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, released a statement. &#8220;Building on this success, Judicial Watch will continue its lawsuits and activism to clean up voter rolls and to promote and protect cleaner elections.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Judicial Watch isn&#8217;t the only one to bring this type of lawsuit. New York City has removed 441,083 uneligible voters after reaching a decision. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/jw-and-nyc-settle-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Settlement<\/a> The conservative advocacy group. North Carolina, too <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/north-carolina-voter-rolls-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">More than 430,000 ineligible registrations were removed<\/a> It was taken off its rolls by a similar lawsuit. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/judicial-watch-victory-court-ordered-consent-decree-requires-kentucky-to-clean-up-election-rolls\/\">Kentucky<\/a> Responding to a lawsuit, they agreed to do so. <\/p>\n<p>Another good government group is the Public Interest Legal Foundation, which has brought lawsuits against states to make them comply. <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/26\/judge-denies-michigan-secretary-of-states-motion-to-dismiss-lawsuit-removing-26000-dead-registrants-from-voter-rolls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michigan <\/a>And a href=&#8221;https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/press\/lawsuit-to-remove-dead-voters-in-pennsylvania-ends-with-win-for-election-integrity\/&#8221;>Pennsylvania<\/a> to ensure that their voter rolls are clean to prevent potential fraud. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n Victoria Marshall is a staff writer for The Federalist.
