Telehealth services have significantly increased during the pandemic, leading to shortages in some medications.<\/p>\n<p>Because of the influx in prescriptions for patients, the DEA began to crack down on telehealth services that allow people to get drugs first-time.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed rules allow doctors to &#8220;remotely prescribe a 30-day supply of some drugs, including buprenorphine\u2014used to treat opioid-use disorder\u2014as well as ketamine and testosterone,&#8221; The Wall Street Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/adderall-oxycontin-prescriptions-to-require-in-person-doctor-visit-under-biden-plan-dd7bd3a7?mod=e2twp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. &#8220;Further prescriptions would require at least one in-person visit. Other drugs, including Adderall, Ritalin and OxyContin, would require patients to meet in-person with prescribers first or be referred from a doctor they met in person.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dea.gov\/press-releases\/2023\/02\/24\/dea-announces-proposed-rules-permanent-telemedicine-flexibilities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DEA<\/a>The new rules will not have any effect on:<\/p>\n<p>Telemedicine consultations that do not involve the prescribing of controlled medications.Telemedicine consultations by a medical practitioner that has previously conducted an in-person medical examination of a patient.Telemedicine consultations and prescriptions by a medical practitioner to whom a patient has been referred, as long as the referring medical practitioner has previously conducted an in-person medical examination of the patient.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;DEA is committed to ensuring that all Americans can access needed medications,&#8221; said DEA Administrator Anne Milgram. &#8220;The permanent expansion of telemedicine flexibilities would continue greater access to care for patients across the country, while ensuring the safety of patients.
