For a time, she held the top spot until her death. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/selena-gomez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gomez&#8217;<\/a> Her followers count surpassed hers, reaching 381,000,000 as of Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The 30-year old singer was previously the most-followed woman on Instagram. She captioned it. &#8220;I deleted this one time because I thought maybe it was too much but eh (taking a break from social).&#8221; It had been liked over 12 million times at the time of publication.<\/p>\n<p>Gomez spoke to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elle.com\/culture\/celebrities\/a42915591\/selena-gomez-quit-social-media-hailey-bieber-comparison-comments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vanity Fair<\/a> Recently, she spoke out about the decision to delete the Instagram app years ago due to hurtful comments. However, she admitted that she did have the TikTok application on her phone.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I never got the chance to go to an actual high school,&#8221; The &#8220;Wizards of Waverly Place&#8221; star shared. &#8220;The world was my high school for the longest time, and I started getting inundated with information that I didn&#8217;t want. I went through a hard time in a breakup and I didn&#8217;t want to see any of the [feedback]\u2014not necessarily about the relationship, but the opinions of me versus [someone] else.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;d be thousands of really nice comments, but my mind goes straight to the mean one,&#8221; She added. &#8220;People can call me ugly or stupid and I&#8217;m like, Whatever. But these people get detailed. They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying. I constantly had anxiety \u2026 I couldn&#8217;t do it anymore. It was a waste of my time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The only thing I have on my phone is TikTok because I find it to be a little less hostile,&#8221; Gomez continued. &#8220;There are wonderful things about social media\u2014connecting with fans, seeing how happy and excited they are and their stories.
