The viewership reached 709,000 households on the following day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Following the backlash from his remarks\u00a0on presidential candidate Nikki Haley&#8217;s age,&#8221;\u00a0Dallas Lawrence, senior vice president of Samba TV, stated that he spoke on behalf of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/02\/23\/cnn-this-morning-ratings-rose-5-during-don-lemon-hiatus\/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&#038;utm_medium=SocialFlow&#038;utm_source=NYPTwitter\">New York Post<\/a>, &#8220;Lemon&#8217;s two-day absence from the studio actually appears to have boosted the network&#8217;s average ratings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lawrence crunched the numbers and revealed that &#8220;average viewership the two days following his comments was up 5 percent compared to the average daily viewership the week before.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lemon&#8217;s comments provoked calls for the network terminate his contract. Some female staff threatened to quit if Lemon wasn&#8217;t fired. On Wednesday, however, Lemon returned to the airwaves and no walkouts were reported.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Lemon apologised via Twitter once more for his comments, before rejoining his co-hosts in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I appreciate the opportunity to be back,&#8221; He stated. &#8220;To my network, my colleagues and our incredible audience \u2014 I&#8217;m sorry. I&#8217;ve heard you, I&#8217;m learning from you, and I&#8217;m committed to doing better. See you soon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Lemon was criticized for his apology. Many suggested that he should apologize to Nikki Haley.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Last Thursday&#8217;s episode saw Haley respond to Lemon&#8217;s comments about older politicians being required to prove their mental ability.
