It will ban mastectomies of girls claiming to be boys, and it will make it illegal to give cross-sex hormones to children. The bill passed the Republican-controlled body by a vote of 77-16.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lee has expressed support for the bill in the past and is expected to approve the bill as it was introduced by Jack Johnson, Senate Majority Leader (Republican-Franklin), and William Lamberth, House Majority Leader (Republican-Portland).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We should not allow permanent, life-altering decisions that hurt children. With the partnership of the General Assembly, this practice should end in Tennessee,&#8221; Lee spoke out in the fall following an investigation by Matt Walsh (Daily Wire) that revealed that Vanderbilt University Medical Center, VUMC had performed double mastectomies to minors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>VUMC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-vanderbilt-pediatric-gender-clinic-pausing-transgender-surgeries-on-minors\">paused<\/a> All such surgeries will be performed by October 2022, following an inquiry from Republican legislators. Lamberth wrote in the opinion article for The Tennessean that October that such surgeries should be considered. &#8220;abuse&#8221; And had no place in Tennessee.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And let&#8217;s be clear: these treatments and surgeries are cosmetic. No procedure or drug can change a human being&#8217;s sex, the structure of their chromosomes or their DNA. It is surgical mutilation for the purpose of altering the appearance of a child and it qualifies as nothing less than abuse,&#8221; Lamberth stated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Walsh supported the bill earlier this month in support of it before the House Health Committee in the Cordell Hull Building in ahref=&#8221;https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/nashville&#8221;>Nashville<\/a>. &#8220;We should be able to agree that it is never OK to chemically castrate, sterilize, butcher, or mutilate a child. And in fact, all decent people do agree on this point,&#8221; During his testimony, he said the following. &#8220;But many of the people who hold power in this country and who run our institutions \u2014 including our medical institutions \u2014 do not pass this basic test of decency.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If the bill is signed by Left-wing groups in Volunteer State like the ACLU-TN it could be subject to legal challenges <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/big-money-how-the-worlds-first-trans-billionaire-could-impact-tennessees-fight-to-protect-children\">They vowed to sue<\/a>They claim that these life-altering procedures are &#8220;necessary&#8221; Children\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lamberth had previously stated to The Daily Wire that this issue should not be. &#8220;partisan&#8221; And that the majority of Tennessee citizens supported Republican-backed efforts for gender bans and protections against explicit performances.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;An overwhelming majority of Tennesseans agree that children should be protected from sexual mutilation and adult performances with sexual content.
