Reuters    <\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden is awarding thousands of acres of public land to a solar energy company whose top executive helped him raise millions of dollars\u2014even as environmentalists and local residents say the company&#8217;s project harms their desert community.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&#8217;s Interior Department in the last year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blm.gov\/press-release\/blm-approves-start-construction-oberon-solar-project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">greenlit<\/a> Intersect Power plans to build a desert solar farm on 2,600 acres of Southern California public land. This was a rare instance in which the Biden administration did not listen to environmental activists who claim that the project would destroy desert habitats and wildlife. The ability of Intersect to overcome this opposition probably validated the decision by executives to bankroll Biden\u2019s campaign. Sheldon Kimber is Intersect&#8217;s CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/individual-contributions\/?committee_id=C00703975&#038;committee_id=C00744946&#038;contributor_name=Sheldon&#038;contributor_employer=intersect+power\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gave<\/a> Biden raised $180,000 by raising funds for his presidential campaign. <a href=\"https:\/\/heated.world\/p\/elite-climate-donors-raised-at-least\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minimum $3.2 Million<\/a>\u00a0Through two fundraising groups. Intersect&#8217;s top executives contributed a total of $1,050,000 to two fundraising groups. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/individual-contributions\/?committee_id=C00703975&#038;committee_id=C00744946&#038;contributor_name=Sheldon&#038;contributor_name=luke&#038;contributor_name=nicholas&#038;contributor_name=seth&#038;contributor_name=tammy&#038;contributor_name=wing&#038;contributor_employer=intersect+power\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$413,000<\/a> Biden 2020<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t the first time Biden has given support to a green-energy company that was connected with a major campaign fundraiser. Leaders of Clean Energy for Biden\u2014a political group made up of &#8220;clean energy business and policy leaders&#8221; that bundled donations for the Democrat\u2014saw Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/easy-being-green-bidens-clean-energy-fundraisers-reap-white-house-rewards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Publicly promote<\/a> They started their businesses just months after Biden became president.
