Now, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg plans to finally visit the devastated town. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/02\/22\/buttigieg-to-visit-scene-of-ohio-crash-scene-thursday-00083981\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> On Wednesday<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, Buttigieg will meet with residents and members from the National Transportation Safety Board on Thursday for a briefing.<\/p>\n<p>Bipartisan criticisms of the Biden administration&#8217;s response to the East Palestine disaster have been directed at the transportation secretary. Buttigieg took nearly two weeks to respond. <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/after-train-crash-nuked-ohio-town-with-toxic-chemicals-buttigieg-focuses-on-bigger-threat-white-construction-workers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Issue<\/a> He made his first statement regarding the derailment. <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/buttigieg-ohio-train-scandal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attacked<\/a> Republicans are to be criticized for his inaction.<\/p>\n<p>On February 3, the train was unable to keep on track. Authorities began releasing substances from the train on February 6 in an attempt to prevent an explosion and make the tracks operational again. &#8220;We basically nuked a town with chemicals so we could get a railroad open,&#8221; Sil Caggiano, a specialist in hazardous materials, spoke out to local media outlets.<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg had previously stated that he would visit &#8220;when the time was right,&#8221; According to Politico.<\/p>\n<p>Animals up to 20 miles from the scene died in days after chemical release. Numerous videos show rivers and creeks changing color.<\/p>\n<p>The town will welcome former President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
