There, members will hear presentations by Joe Morelle (D.NY), House Administration Committee ranking member, and Rep. We believe we have secured the right to see whatever we want to see.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re going to spend the rest of this week taking a look at it,\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/sK7691S0n8\">https:\/\/t.co\/sK7691S0n8<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GnPvtbENg5\">pic.twitter.com\/GnPvtbENg5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Columbia Bugle \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@ColumbiaBugle) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ColumbiaBugle\/status\/1627851223092035591?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 21, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<p>McCarthy has not yet commented publicly on the situation, but a Fox News spokesperson told The Daily Wire that the report from Axios was accurate.<\/p>\n<p>The speaker said last month he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/kevin-mccarthy-shares-best-way-to-release-january-6-tapes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">looking to release the tapes<\/a> because of the &#8220;politicization&#8221; he believed had been fostered by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the January 6 Committee, which focused heavily on former President Donald Trump in its final report.<\/p>\n<p>During its slate of hearings last summer, the January 6 Committee aired clips of security footage, including one showing Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/us\/politics\/100000008455630\/josh-hawley-flee-capitol-attack.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">running though a Capitol hallway<\/a> on January 6.<\/p>\n<p>In his letter, Jeffries argued the panel followed &#8220;numerous protocols&#8221; in viewing the security footage, and stated there is &#8220;no indication the same precautionary measures&#8221; had been taken by McCarthy and Carlson.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger confirmed security footage had been given to McCarthy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/02\/20\/politics\/kevin-mccarthy-tucker-carlson-january-6-footage\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to CNN<\/a>. &#8220;When congressional leadership or congressional oversight committees ask for things like this, we must give it to them,&#8221; Manger said.<\/p>\n<p>Jeffries, Thompson, and other Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/january-6-panel-chairman-issues-warning-over-tucker-carlson-getting-tapes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have already begun to raise concerns<\/a> about Carlson obtaining the video by claiming he is a purveyor of misinformation that fuels Russian propaganda.<\/p>\n<p>The Capitol Police and federal prosecutors involved in January 6 cases <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/zoetillman\/insurrection-capitol-footage-secret\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have argued<\/a> in favor of keeping much of the surveillance footage hidden from the public over concerns about security. Still, some Republicans have been cheering on the release of the tapes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For all of you that doubted we would release the tapes. Here you go!
