He is accused of allegedly hiding 41 mail-in votes at his house, falsifying voter registration documents and urging residents to vote for him. Investigators <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcra.com\/article\/lodi-council-member-shakir-khan-kcra-3-in-exclusive-interview-after-arrest\/42963166\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Claim<\/a>Based partly on body cam footage from police interviews, Khan registered 23 voters at his home and used his number to register 47 others to vote. <\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Another Democrat <\/p>\n<p>Lodi City Council member Democrat Shakir Khan arrested on voter fraud charges related to 2020 Crime of the Century \u2013 stash of ballots found at his residence with fake voter registrations. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xWeWpUJy2K\">pic.twitter.com\/xWeWpUJy2K<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8RealRobert\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@Real_RobN) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Real_RobN\/status\/1627079983171788803?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 18, 2023<\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>These charges stemm from Khan&#8217;s 2020 election victory for District 4 on the Lodi city council. <\/p>\n<p>Khan is also facing charges in a separate criminal case along with his brother. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcra.com\/article\/lodi-city-council-member-shakir-khan-arrested-on-new-charges-as-criminal-case-moves-forward\/42940240\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Include <\/a>Illegal gambling, money laundering and tax evasion are all possible. On February 21, Khan will be back in court to face another hearing on the case. Khan was released on Friday from jail, but must keep California safe by wearing a tracking device. <\/p>\n<p>According to local news reports, Khan is not yet known. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcra.com\/article\/lodi-city-council-member-shakir-khan-arrested-on-new-charges-as-criminal-case-moves-forward\/42940240\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Resigned from the City Council<\/a> These allegations are not true. However, he is still facing charges related to election fraud. <a href=\"https:\/\/fox40.com\/news\/local-news\/shakir-khan\/california-city-council-member-arrested-on-suspicion-of-voter-fraud-as-previous-case-moves-forward-heres-what-we-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Severe<\/a>. Khan&#8217;s home was searched by the investigators, who found 41 sealed and complete mail-in votes. This is a clear example of how easy it can be for criminal actors to fix elections. <\/p>\n<p>As mentioned previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/18\/after-approving-mass-mail-in-balloting-california-loses-10-million-ballots-in-november-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>Mail-in ballots are a major risk of election fraud. Data from the federal Election Assistance Commission shows that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/articles\/2020\/04\/24\/28_million_mail-in_ballots_went_missing_in_last_four_elections_143033.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">28.3 Million mail-in ballots remain unaccounted for<\/a> These are the results of elections across the country that took place between 2012-2018. These ballots are not trackable so it is impossible to determine if they were fraudulently used. <\/p>\n<p>Third-party partisan organizers also have the opportunity to profit from such a lax system. They can harvest ballots by coaxing voters into filling out their ballots in support of Democratic candidates, then taking their ballots and dropping it off at election offices. <a href=\"https:\/\/spectator.org\/it-isnt-time-to-care-who-the-republican-party-2024-nominee-is\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">They do<\/a>. Khan is alleged to have engaged in ballot harvesting. <a href=\"https:\/\/fox40.com\/news\/local-news\/shakir-khan\/california-city-council-member-arrested-on-suspicion-of-voter-fraud-as-previous-case-moves-forward-heres-what-we-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">For District 4 residents to vote in his favor<\/a> Completing their ballots.<\/p>\n<p>All voters must be able to cast their ballots in-person. This would address many security issues with mail-in balloting. Khan would not have been able to submit 41 fake mail-in ballots with false names and addresses to count them if that was the law. It would be necessary for actual people to show up at the polls and identify themselves before filling out their ballots.<\/p>\n<p>California was just named eighth state, despite the obvious dangers of moving to all-mail elections. <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/18\/after-approving-mass-mail-in-balloting-california-loses-10-million-ballots-in-november-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">approve all-mail voting<\/a> Its elections are moving forward.
