The Biden administration provides a taxpayer-funded workaround that allows service members and their families access to non-covered abortions in states where there are laws protecting the unborn.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Although DoD cannot use tax dollars to pay abortion procedures, the new policies ensure that taxpayers can fund travel and time off for those procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Republican lawmakers in both the House and Senate have warned that Secretary Austin&#8217;s administration and Vice President Biden are exceeding their authority and infringing on the spirit of the law that restricts the use of tax dollars to fund abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Tommy Tuberville (R.A.L.) lambasted Secretary Austin<span>\u00a0&#8220;following through with his radical plan to facilitate thousands of abortions a year with taxpayer dollars,&#8221; You can also add that he &#8220;will follow through with my plan to hold all Department of Defense (DoD) civilian, flag, and general officer nominations that come before the U.S. Senate.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">As I have stated, Secretary Austin should seek Congress approval if he wants to amend law. This is a severe misuse of taxpayer dollars \u2014 and I will hold him accountable. The American people want a military focused on national defense, not facilitating a progressive political agenda,&#8221; Tuberville noted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the House, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) \u2014 who serves as chairman of the House Armed Services Committee \u2014 said that the new policies mean &#8220;the Biden administration chose to make the Department of Defense an abortion travel agency over a lethal fighting force.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Our nation&#8217;s freedom and security are protected by our brave military. It is not designed to support the woke, Socialist Biden agenda. And it is certainly no way to pay for abortion on request.
