Nearly 70% of the offenders inflicted psychological harm to their victims. A third of offenders had multiple victims.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to the report, only 16% of transgender males were identified. &#8220;gender diverse&#8221; A request was made to transfer to a women\u2019s prison. This request was approved by 62%, 19% denied and 19% pending at the time. Transgender males identified by females did not request to be transferred to a men&#8217;s prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It was also found that 47% of respondents were not satisfied with the results. &#8220;gender-diverse&#8221; offenders surveyed were Indigenous. Indigenous Canadians make up 5% of Canada&#8217;s population. However, they account for a large proportion of Canadian prison inmates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Prior to 2017, Canada&#8217;s incarcerated people were placed in men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s correctional facilities based on their biological sexual orientation. In December 2017, however, the Correctional Service of Canada issued a directive directing that prisoners should be housed in facilities that conform to their self-determined criteria. &#8220;gender identity.&#8221; Many offenders convicted for severe sex offenses have been transferred to women\u2019s prisons since then.
