Journalists and other out-of touch white Democrats loved him for his youthful gayness and ability to regurgitate platitudes.<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg was popular in New Hampshire and Iowa, which were not considered early primaries. This gave his campaign some success. His supporters and out-of touch white Democrats adored him and decided to name him (without any evidence). &#8220;rising star&#8221; American politics who will be president one day. (Fact check: <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/fact-check-buttigieg-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">He won&#8217;t<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Despite the former\u00a0mayor&#8217;s conspicuous lack of qualifications, President Joe Biden made Buttigieg the U.S. secretary of transportation in order to boost the\u00a0whippersnapper&#8217;s meager r\u00e9sum\u00e9 and add some &#8220;diversity&#8221; An administration filled with Ivy League geeks.<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg has since presided over a number of transportation-related scandals that reflect rather poorly on his leadership skills. The alleged wunderkind is still loved. <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/media\/buttigieg-obama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Profiling<\/a>\u00a0His praises from journalists &#8220;star power,&#8221; His weekend walks among the &#8220;artisanal stalls at Eastern Market,&#8221; and\u00a0his ability to recite talking points on television.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-3 text-gray font-sanserif text-4xl\"><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/pete-buttigieg-michael-jordan-fact-check\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Fact Check: Pete Buttigieg IS a Michael Jordan-Level Guest on Cable TV&#8217;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why it matters<\/strong>: The majority of Americans who are not journalists believe that our politicians should be judged on the actual records they have, and not their youth nerdy homosexuality, their mastery over platitudes or their ability to speak in pigeon Norwegian.<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg&#8217;s real record as transportation secretary does not reflect his true stature. Here are some scandals he permitted to happen under his watch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Toxic train derailment scandal<\/strong>\u2014A train carrying hazardous materials derailed earlier this month in East Palestine, Ohio. Norfolk Southern, the rail company, did a controlled burn on vinyl chloride. It sent a plume ominous black smoke over the city. Phosgene, one of the poisonous gases that was released into the atmosphere as a result, was used in World War I as a chemical weapon. Residents are worried because fish are dying in their local waterways.<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg is not scheduled to meet with residents but he did appear on TV this week to encourage calmness.\u00a0&#8220;While this horrible situation has gotten a particularly high amount of attention, there are roughly 1,000 cases a year of a train derailing,&#8221; He <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greg_price11\/status\/1626317314122457091\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>\u00a0Reassuringly, this train arrived several hours after the last. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/detroit\/news\/authorities-investigate-train-derailment-in-van-buren-township\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Derailment<\/a> outside Detroit.<\/p>\n<p>Norfolk Southern may be eligible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/02\/16\/technology\/ohio-train-derailment-chernobyl.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">caused<\/a> &#8220;Chernobyl 2.0,&#8221; However,<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What happened: Enemy of Freedom\u2122\u00a0Pete Buttigieg launched a failed campaign for president of the United States at the age of 37 after serving two terms as mayor of South Bend, the fourth-largest city in Indiana.
