Favre dismissed any possibility that he would be convicted.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his rebuttals to the show, Favre repeatedly stated that neither he nor his co-hosts had ever said Favre was guilty. But that hasn\u2019t stopped the former three-time NFL MVP or his lawyers from pursuing it, anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Favre has come under heavy criticism for his involvement in what is alleged was serious fraudulent activity. McAfee&#8217;s criticisms of Favre are not unique. He was once seen as an ambassador for professional soccer. CC By 3.0 <https: \/>, via Wikimedia.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Bret Favre\u2019s ongoing welfare scandal has been a legal and public relations nightmare.<\/p>\n<p>Shad white first accused Favre in 2020 of receiving $1.1million federal funds via Mississippi for appearances that he did not make. The retired star originally defended himself by saying he made the appearances\u00a0and\u00a0did not know the origin of the money he was paid.<\/p>\n<p>Later, however, text messages revealed that Favre had secretly asked the former Mississippi governor. Phil Bryant was the one who requested the funds. The State of Mississippi provided $5 million and Favre contributed $1.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the Old Gunslinger is said to have taken from the poor in order to give to them. At least, that\u2019s what it looks like to most observers: The hungry and homeless continued to do without, so that a sparkling new sports facility could be built.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple parties have been involved in the scandal. <a class=\"link yahoo-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/now\/ex-director-pleads-guilty-mississippi-155127307.html\" data-i13n=\"cpos:12;pos:1\" data-ylk=\"slk:multiple participants plead guilty to criminal charges;cpos:12;pos:1;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" data-rapid_p=\"32\" data-v9y=\"1\">Plead guilty for criminal charges<\/a>. It\u2019s mind-boggling that Mr. Favre wants to have a trial about that question. Mr. Favre has called Auditor White and his team liars despite repaying some of the money our office demanded from him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s also claimed the auditors are liars despite clear documentary evidence showing he benefitted from misspent funds.
