Officials had to release them into the atmosphere to prevent an explosion. One of the chemicals could cause liver damage. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/epa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Environmental Protection Agency<\/a> According to officials <\/p>\n<p>Manchin&#8217;s criticisms come as EPA Administrator Michael Regan visits Minnesota 13 days after the initial derailment. Regan was joined by Sens. Sherrod Brown (D.OH) and J.D. Vance (R.OH), also visited East Palestine on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>Vance also stated during his visit that he would make a call to Congress to help solve the problem. Vance called on Buttigieg also to stop blaming the past President <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> His slow response by his department. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Department of Transportation, your Department of Transportation, has things it can do. Trump was blamed for the repealing of a proposed safety regulation. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re constrained by law on some areas of rail regulation (like the braking rule withdrawn by the Trump administration in 2018 because of a law passed by Congress in 2015), but we are using the powers we do have to keep people safe,&#8221; He stated. &#8220;And of course, I\u2019m always ready to work with Congress on furthering (or in some cases, restoring) our capacity to address rail safety issues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
