John Fetterman (D. Pa.), checked himself in to a hospital Wednesday &#8220;severe&#8221; A counselor said that clinical depression was a common condition.<\/p>\n<p>According to Fetterman\u2019s chief of staff, Adam Jentleson, the freshman Democrat entered Walter Reed National Health Center at the recommendation of Congress\u2019s attending physician. After Fetterman was released from the hospital with lightheadedness, the doctor evaluated him.<\/p>\n<p>Jentleson <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/giselefetterman\/status\/1626302959276511236\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a> Senator has had to deal with depression. &#8220;off and on&#8221; Throughout his life, but it has now become severe &#8220;in recent weeks.&#8221; Jentleson claims Fetterman was reassured that doctors believed he &#8220;will soon be back to himself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The medical scare is the latest evidence that Fetterman\u2019s health is far worse off than he claimed following his near-fatal stroke on the campaign trail last year. The <em>New York Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/serious-mental-health-challenges-fetterman-suffered-permanent-damage-from-charging-ahead-with-campaign-after-near-fatal-stroke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> Fetterman was confronted last week &#8220;serious mental health challenges&#8221; As a result, he has suffered a stroke. According to the newspaper, he is now unable to perform basic tasks required for his job. Privately, he worries that he may have sustained permanent damage from rushing back to the campaign trail too soon after his stroke. This would leave him unable fully to process sound.<\/p>\n<p>Fetterman and his allies argued during the campaign that Fetterman was in good health and would be back to his full health before he begins his Senate term.<\/p>\n<p>Fetterman speaks in a July interview <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/john-fetterman-100-able-to-run-for-pennsylvania-senate-after-stroke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Claim<\/a> He was well on his way to full recovery. &#8220;100 percent able to run fully.&#8221; His campaign released a note from his personal doctor\u2014also <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/elections\/bad-medicine-doctor-granting-fetterman-clean-bill-of-health-is-a-campaign-donor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a campaign donor<\/a>\u2014that said Fetterman should have &#8220;no work restrictions and can work full duty in public office.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Thursday, Fetterman\u2019s wife Gisele said she was &#8220;proud&#8221; Fetterman &#8220;for asking for help and getting the care he needs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During the campaign, Gisele Fetterman criticized reporters who questioned her husband\u2019s recovery status.
