Also, be prepared for more shakedowns by the government and white people.<\/p>\n<p>Hooray!<\/p>\n<p>It was enough to make it worse that Biden just infused <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/09\/bidens-irs-is-about-to-become-very-acquainted-with-your-money\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nearly $100 billion<\/a> into an agency despised by anyone trying to make an honest living \u2014 we\u2019re the ones most likely to be harassed by it \u2014\u00a0but now it comes with the added insult of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/24\/new-york-times-made-a-bunch-of-affirmative-action-hires-then-rated-them-lower-than-their-white-colleagues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cequity,\u201d<\/a> A term that should be treated like a pandemic. Lock the doors and close the shutters.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Werfel, the likely next IRS Commissioner, made this commitment in his congressional testimony Wednesday, after Stanford University published it. <a href=\"https:\/\/hai.stanford.edu\/news\/irs-disproportionately-audits-black-taxpayers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A study<\/a> It is claimed that audits are more damaging to black taxpayers. As with any other law or policy, allegedly \u201cdisproportionately impacts communities of color\u201d (ie. rules meant to keep everyone safe and everything fair from ne\u2019er-do-wells), this is B.S.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s true that black filers receive audit notices at a higher rate than non-black filers. But that\u2019s because black taxpayers claim certain lower-income tax credits, like the earned income tax credit or credits for single parents, at a higher rate. It is common for a taxpayer to receive money from the government, even though he has not paid into it. \u201cWhen someone claims one of these tax credits, which are part of our country\u2019s social safety net,\u201d The study concluded that \u201cthey receive a refund amount even if they didn\u2019t pay any taxes.\u201d (The term \u201crefund\u201d This is incorrect for money that was not given by a taxpayer. These credits are most likely be used to initiate an audit based only on an IRS algorithm.<\/p>\n<p>According to the authors, 21 percent of EITC claims were made by black filers. Single black men with dependents \u2014\u00a0unmarried fathers \u2014 also make up the largest group of EITC claims. This means that blacks are only about 13 percent in the population. However, they are more likely than other people to file claims that could trigger an audit. Even though the IRS doesn&#8217;t know what race a filer is, (There is no race check box when you submit the paper work.<\/p>\n<p>The only way to balance out this supposed injustice \u2014\u00a0equity! \u2014\u00a0is for IRS agents to consciously target more non-blacks for audits. And trust me, it won\u2019t be the filers with names like \u201cWiyot\u201d  \u201cKai.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>National media assure us that the IRS has been injected with $80 Billion in steroids to modernize its systems and hire more people. \u201ccustomer service\u201d Agents and filling \u201ctechnical support\u201d roles. Any concern or criticism that a larger IRS would mean more audits for middle income earners is dismissed. \u201cmisleading\u201d Or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/08\/19\/us\/politics\/more-money-for-irs-spurs-conspiracy-theories-of-shadow-army.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cmore conspiracy theories,\u201d<\/a> So <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/02\/15\/us\/fact-checking-irs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Detailed description<\/a> The New York Times.
