Special Purpose Grand Jury, I tapped out that mock headline.\u00a0It was predictable enough that the corporate press continues to be predictable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGeorgia grand jury: \u2018Perjury may have been committed\u2019 in Trump election probe,\u201d The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2023\/02\/16\/trump-investigation-georgia-grand-jury-fulton-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Header<\/a> Its coverage.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGeorgia Grand Jury in Trump Inquiry Sees Signs of Perjury By Witnesses,\u201d The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2023\/02\/16\/us\/trump-georgia-investigation\">Echoed<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>USA Today also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2023\/02\/16\/georgia-trump-investigation-perjury\/11262459002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">headline<\/a> Its reporting \u201cGeorgia Grand Jury Recommends Perjury Charges for Unnamed Witnesses in Trump Investigation.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But color me skeptical that any perjury occurred \u2014 because of what the Special Purpose Grand Jury said on page two of its report and because of what the partisan Fulton County D.A., Democrat Fani Willis, said in various court filings related to her \u201cinvestigation.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Democrat D.A. was established in January 2022. In January 2022, the Democrat D.A. \u201cspecial purpose grand jury\u201d To assist her in her investigation <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/2022-midterm-elections-donald-trump-georgia-presidential-atlanta-498ed5f20012c5e9ff4d57ff62063bf1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">In<\/a> \u201cany coordinated attempts to unlawfully alter the outcome of the 2020 elections in this state.\u201d Christopher Brasher, Fulton County Superior Court judge granted D.A. Willis\u2019 request, allowing her to launch a public relations attack on Republicans \u2014 including election lawyers, candidates for state office, and even the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/22\/fulton-county-das-j6-style-crusade-against-lindsey-graham-is-unconstitutional-and-heres-why\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sitting<\/a> Lindsey Graham is a U.S. senator representing South Carolina.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While the state court allowed the circus to proceed, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney put the brakes on the most obvious \u2014 and outrageous \u2014 aspect of Willis\u2019 political farce, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/f\/?id=00000182-361f-d60a-a1fe-76bfc2b00000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Holding<\/a>\u00a0That \u201cthis District Attorney and her special prosecution team may no longer investigate Senator [Burt] Jones [an alternate elector in the 2020 election and Republican 2022 candidate]\u201d He may not subpoena Willis or request any records via subpoena.\u00a0Judge McBurney further held that Willis\u2019s special prosecution team \u201cmay not publicly categorize [Jones] as a subject or target (or anything else) of the grand jury\u2019s investigation, and they may not ask the grand jury to include any recommendations about him in their final report.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Willis\u2019 efforts to target Jones were halted because \u201cwell after the grand jury had begun receiving evidence from witnesses called and examined by the District Attorney\u2019s team of prosecutors, the District Attorney hosted and headlined a fundraiser for [Charlie] Bailey.\u201d Bailey was then in a runoff to be Jones&#8217;
