This was just two days after the East Palestine crash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe shouldn\u2019t be running trains that are 150 car lengths long,\u201d An employee told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/ohio-train-derailment-east-palestine-norfolk-southern-excess-size\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News<\/a>. \u201cThere should be some limitations to the weight and the length of the trains. In this case, had the train not been 18,000 tons, it\u2019s very likely the effects of the derailment would have been mitigated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Norfolk Southern said that the company told CBS News \u201cthe weight distribution of this train was uniform throughout\u201d With a mid-train locomotive \u201cwhich helps manage the dynamic forces of the train\u201d Reduces mechanical problems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAssigning a \u2018reputation\u2019 to a train that fluctuates by thousands of tons on a regular basis is inaccurate,\u201d The spokesperson continued by stating that &#8220;a \u201clonger and heavier train\u201d The same route was taken as the derail train.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a good chance the car that derailed had not been properly inspected for some time,\u201d said\u00a0SMART Transportation Division Alt.
