His conduct was consistent with the purpose of the event and his role as a reporter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BREAKING?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BREAKING<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EvanLambertTV?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@EvanLambertTV<\/a>, the NewsNation reporter arrested during an Ohio news conference last week, is no longer facing charges.<\/p>\n<p>Watch <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NewsNationLive?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NewsNationLive<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DhYRGUFsyt\">https:\/\/t.co\/DhYRGUFsyt<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JFQOpxd0dM\">pic.twitter.com\/JFQOpxd0dM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NewsNation (@NewsNation) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NewsNation\/status\/1625885828269453314?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 15, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Video shows Lambert being handcuffed and arrested at the far end of a school gymnasium in East Palestine, where DeWine was holding a news conference about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/company-responsible-for-ohio-train-derailment-issues-list-of-cancer-causing-substances-released\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">derailment of a freight train carrying hazardous materials<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Local police said National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. John Harris and two members of the highway patrol tried to stop the reporter because he was loud, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cincinnati.com\/story\/news\/2023\/02\/14\/mike-dewine-comments-arrested-reporter-east-palestine\/69904571007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to the Cincinnati Enquirer<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsnationnow.com\/us-news\/midwest\/charges-filed-against-newsnation-reporter-dropped\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NewsNation said<\/a> Lambert finished his live report, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-video-released-of-moments-leading-up-to-arrest-of-reporter-at-ohio-governors-press-conference\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">body-camera footage<\/a> shows authorities insist Lambert leave, a command which Lambert refused to obey, citing the First Amendment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/lifestyle\/ohio-national-guard-boss-under-163440206.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In a statement<\/a>, Harris claimed he felt Lambert was prepared to do him harm during their encounter, though Lambert did not appear to get physical with anyone. \u201cI instinctively put my hands on his chest to keep him from bumping into me, which I felt was inevitable if I had not protected myself,\u201d Harris said.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities eventually removed Lambert from the event, forcing him to the ground as they handcuffed him. NewsNation said Lambert spent four hours in jail before being released.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that NewsNation\u2019s Evan Lambert was simply doing his job \u2014 reporting from Governor DeWine\u2019s press conference and updating viewers about the latest developments in the Ohio train derailment,\u201d Michael Corn, president of News at NewsNation, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NewsNationComms\/status\/1624062643379077120\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cThe many videos of this incident taken by bystanders and the recently released bodycam footage speak for themselves.
