Five train cars carrying vinyl chloride (a carcinogen used in the production of PVC) were exposed to large plumes and dark smoke that could be seen in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Media Research Center analysts examined all broadcast coverage between February 4th, and February 14, according to conservative nonprofit. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/bill-dagostino\/curtis-houck\/2023\/02\/14\/networks-abandoned-ohio-train-disaster-despite-continued-fallout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Concluded<\/a> The three major networks \u201cfell just shy of a combined 30 minutes\u201d This is the story. CBS devoted 9 minutes 53 seconds to the scandal. ABC was next with 9 minutes 31 seconds. NBC had 8 minutes 52 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>East Palestine residents were assured they could return to their homes in less than a week following the controlled fire; first responders and residents have been informed. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/unlike-anything-i-have-ever-seen-ohio-first-responder-says-residents-suffer-from-health-issues-after-train-derailment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> Worrisome health conditions such as headaches, sore throats, sore throats, and coughing can lead to serious complications. However, the outlets refused to report on the story. CBS offered 1 minute 4 seconds of additional coverage while NBC offered 38 seconds. ABC stopped reporting completely on the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRather than healthy skepticism, reporters approached statements by Norfolk Southern and the Ohio EPA, both of whom had a blatant incentive to downplay the seriousness of the situation, with slavish credulity,\u201d Analysts at the Media Research Center wrote. \u201cPerhaps this explains why they haven\u2019t gone back to the story: because they abandoned it too early before asking any meaningful questions. For the broadcast networks to revisit East Palestine now would be to admit that their prior abandonment of it was an error born out of laziness and a lack of curiosity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group also stated that Columbiana County (Ohio) is more white than 93% and more conservative. According to the organization, 72% of voters cast their ballots in support of President Donald Trump in 2020. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.columbiana.boe.ohio.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Columbianas-Official-Canvass.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Data<\/a> From the Columbiana County Board of Elections.<\/p>\n<p>The Media Research Center thanked CNN, PBS and Fox News for their updates on the crash. NewsNation correspondent Evan Lambert was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-video-released-of-moments-leading-up-to-arrest-of-reporter-at-ohio-governors-press-conference\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arrest<\/a> During a conference with Governor Mike DeWine of Ohio, the outlet nevertheless \u201ccontinued to diligently cover the situation.\u201d Reporters have missed the absence of leadership by Pete Buttigieg (Transport Secretary), who has been reported but not acknowledged. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/ilhan-omar-pushes-buttigieg-for-direct-action-after-ohio-train-derailment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adressed<\/a> Social media crisis more than one week after initial crash <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hasnt-said-a-word-republicans-slam-pete-buttigieg-for-silence-after-ohio-train-derailment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tension<\/a> From Democrats and Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. J.D. Vance (R.OH) was also mentioned during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/we-are-ruled-by-unserious-people-j-d-vance-and-tucker-carlson-blast-establishment-for-ignoring-ohio-train-derailment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interview<\/a> Tucker Carlson, Fox News host, stated that the legacy media outlets have paid little attention to the crisis. Tucker Carlson stated that legacy media outlets are already susceptible to overlooking middle America&#8217;s problems. He also said that reporters are reluctant to ask government agencies about the extent of the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that the entire country, the media complex, the leaders of this country, have decided to disregard the people of East Palestine,\u201d He said. \u201cIf you look at the way that this story has been covered, if it\u2019s been covered at all, it\u2019s about how there are poor people in East Palestine who have been victimized by this disaster.
