Splendora Police Department officials stated in a social media post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SplendoraPD\/posts\/pfbid0o59Mt8SCj3k8Wjq3EiNFNe8EPAt2GudKADQ2EdnDE5GvZaZMfovxFAK9UqGqz2MUl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statement<\/a> The truck driver had died before first responders arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Robynn Tyrsver, spokesperson at Union Pacific, confirmed that the company sent a hazardous crew to inspect the wrecked train. The crew was transporting chemical products for retail. The train drained 100 gallons diesel fuel but none of the chemical substances were exposed. The investigation into the derailment is ongoing. No train crew members were hurt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe train was hauling household chemicals, including paint and aerosol cans. There were no releases,\u201d Tysver said. \u201cRailroads are required by federal law to transport the chemicals and other hazardous commodities that our customers produce and Americans use daily, including fertilizer, ethanol, crude oil, and chlorine. Railroads are the safest mode of transportation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Splendora Police Department officials stated in another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SplendoraPD\/posts\/pfbid06js4mkNbDB6GbDQLAvpBWWUEQpbQLMBuhSU5dEQUGnuTKgtMZUZeJcUSx9QUmJ7El\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statement<\/a> Midline Road will be reopened to residents Tuesday morning. Highway 59, however, would remain closed while authorities repaired tracks, cleaned the roadway and removed rail cars.<\/p>\n<p>Following another incident in Ohio, the Texas incident follows one in Texas. In Ohio, a malfunctioning axle caused a Norfolk Southern train to derail and leak volatile chemicals. All residents within one mile radius of the February 3rd crash were evacuated by local and state authorities. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/evacuation-ordered-ohio-governor-warns-major-explosion-could-send-shrapnel-a-mile-from-derailed-train\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">started<\/a> A controlled burning of the chemicals is recommended to reduce the possibility of an explosion. Vinyl chloride, which can cause cancer and contaminate water supplies, was released by five train cars, creating massive plumes visible across eastern Ohio, Pennsylvania, and western New York.<\/p>\n<p>One first responder reported that citizens who didn&#8217;t evacuate and emergency personnel have been experiencing sore throats and coughing in the days following the controlled fire. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/unlike-anything-i-have-ever-seen-ohio-first-responder-says-residents-suffer-from-health-issues-after-train-derailment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interview<\/a> The Daily Wire Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Both Republican and Democratic lawmakers expressed concern about the Ohio derailment, and called for an investigation. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg received criticism for not responding for more than one week to the incident. However, he confirmed this Monday evening. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/no-one-is-buying-it-buttegieg-statement-on-train-derailment-falls-flat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statement<\/a> The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the accident.
