The latest attempt by leftists is to allow foreigners to have an impact on the U.S. election process.<\/p>\n<p>According to the new bill<a href=\"http:\/\/webserver.rilegislature.gov\/BillText\/BillText23\/HouseText23\/H5461.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">H 5461<\/a>The following cities and towns are allowed \u201callow all residents of the municipality to vote in municipal elections for municipal officeholders regardless of the immigration status of the residents.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The measure also stipulates that the locality\u2019s board of canvassers is required to coordinate with Rhode Island\u2019s secretary of state and board of elections to \u201cdevelop the forms and instructions to implement the provisions\u201d The new law \u201cas well as any rules and regulations necessary to ensure that any ballot for municipal officeholders only is kept separate and apart from ballots distributed to [citizen] voters \u2026 and counted separately for transmission to the board of elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The law does not define what constitutes proof that a resident is present.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/law.justia.com\/constitution\/rhode-island\/C02.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Constitution of Rhode Island<\/a>The only \u201cpersons entitled to vote\u201d U.S. citizens over 18 who have been living in the same state or town for more than 30 days. \u201cpreceding the time of voting as provided by law,\u201d They are registered to vote at a minimum of 30 days before Election Day. Despite the specific requirements laid out in the document, Democrat Rep. Enrique Sanchez, one of the bill\u2019s sponsors, doesn\u2019t \u201cthink it would be necessary to amend the state\u2019s constitution in order to allow non-citizens to vote,\u201d As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.providencejournal.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2023\/02\/09\/non-citizen-voting-in-ri-municipal-elections-could-be-allowed-with-new-bill\/69884157007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Providence Journal<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>He acknowledged there were \u201csome neighborhoods\u201d With such large immigrant population, he claimed \u201cthese whole neighborhoods have less of a voice because many people can\u2019t vote.\u201d The Biden administration&#8217;s lax policies resulted in fiscal year 2022 seeing a staggering 2.4million a href=&#8221;https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2022\/10\/22\/border-patrol-migrant-encounters\/&#8221;>apprehensions<\/a> of illegal aliens crossing the country\u2019s southern border \u2014 the most in history. Even Democrat-led places like New York, which love to present themselves as \u201csanctuary cities\u201d Illegal border-crossers: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/01\/04\/biden-migrants-new-york-chicago-00076443\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">begging<\/a> to alleviate the pressure of the flood of migrants arriving and the drain on public resources. <\/p>\n<p>Sanchez further confirmed to the Journal that, if the bill becomes law and a town adopts an ordinance allowing noncitizen voting, it would mean not only illegal aliens but also individuals such as international students attending a Rhode Island university within said jurisdiction would be permitted to vote in that locality\u2019s municipal elections.<\/p>\n<p>The push by Sanchez and his allies to open up the state\u2019s local election systems to illegal immigrants is hardly exclusive to Rhode Island.
