Five train cars emitted vinyl chloride, which is a carcinogen and can contaminate water sources, in massive plumes visible across eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. This raised concerns about the quality of air and water in the Ohio River Basin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA large number of firefighters, police officers, sheriff\u2019s deputies, and state troopers have experienced many symptoms including a bad cough, headaches, sore throat, and diarrhea,\u201d The Daily Wire confirmed the identity of the first responder but did not want to reveal his identity. \u201cThe same symptoms were reported by residents who did not evacuate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that he and his fellow members were the first to respond. \u201cencouraged to have a full physical and blood work done by our family doctors just in case any exposure could lead to lifelong ailments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Norfolk Southern and state and federal environmental officials have publicly stated that water supply tests have not shown any concern about levels of hazardous material. The first responder to a question about widely circulated reports that wildlife and farm animals died in the days following the controlled burning stated that he had not received any such reports. \u201cheard stories about dead fish being found in the basin near the crash scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire was informed Monday by the Ohio Department of Agriculture that they had received notification from The Daily Wire confirming the \u201cfood supply is safe and the risk to livestock remains low,\u201d The agency also stated that it has not \u201creceived any official reports regarding the wellness of animals related to the incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The East Palestine Community Center was located just one mile from the crash site. Officials began the controlled burn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it first exploded, a dark gray mushroom-like cloud appeared overhead and colored the sky the same color,\u201d he described. \u201cIt was unlike anything I have ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Norfolk Southern is not only responsible for the controlled burning of vinyl chloride. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/company-responsible-for-ohio-train-derailment-issues-list-of-cancer-causing-substances-released\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beware<\/a> Officials at the Environmental Protection Agency stated that several other volatile industrial chemicals were also released at the site of the derailment. One train car that contains ethylene glycol monobutylether currently has an \u201cunknown status,\u201d Norfolk Southern states that while the amount ethylhexylacrylate is still present in other cars, it is not enough to cause any harm. \u201cpending.\u201d The former can cause headaches and nausea as well as vomiting. Laboratory experiments have identified the latter as a carcinogen.<\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers voiced concern and demanded investigations into the incident. According to footage from security cameras, the train was seen moving 20 miles away.
